Schneider Electric North America Operations Power Systems Division has an outstanding opportunity for a passionate and motivated individual to assume the role of Electrical Designer at our Smyrna, TN facility.
Overview:
The electrical designer translates customer requirements into detailed electrical designs; creating deliverables including three-line diagrams, control schematics, and wiring diagrams. A focus will be on electrical panel and harness layout and design.
The products supported are complex, engineered-to-order (customized) medium voltage electrical distribution, protection, and control equipment. These products are used by our customers to distribute utility and generator electrical power to various environments, including industrial, water/wastewater, and data centers.
Other Responsibilities:
- Acknowledge and normalize engineering related issues as they occur throughout the manufacturing process. This will include answering manufacturing questions, resolving issues at the point of detection, and engaging the engineer of record on more complex issues.
- Review and interpret specifications, drawings, electrical schematics, bill of material (BOM)and other supporting material to resolve identified challenges/issues.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong initiative to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Ability to translate customer requirements into electrical designs; creating deliverables including one and three-line diagrams, control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Electrical panel and harness layout and design.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings for low or medium voltage equipment; especially for Schneider Electric ranges.
- Ability to work in an office/manufacturing environment
- Ability to gain full proficiency in Engineering and other job-related tools: SEE XP (we currently use), AutoCAD (legacy and phasing out but still used), Symmetry, LDS, ODM+, etc.
- Effective time management skills and ability to acknowledge and normalize eAndons raised from manufacturing
- Ability to effectively communicate with both engineering department and plant manufacturing personnel
- Actively participate in SIM meetings representing the engineering team to manufacturing when asked
- 2-year degree in a related technical field
- 4 plus years’ experience in the design or manufacture of electrical distribution equipment preferred
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Strong initiative to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment with a specific aptitude and ability to learn electrical design of electrical power distribution equipment
