WRI India, an independent charity legally registered as the India Resources Trust, provides objective information and practical proposals to foster environmentally sound and socially equitable development. Our work focuses on building sustainable and liveable cities and working towards a low carbon economy. Through research, analysis, and recommendations, WRI India puts ideas into action to build transformative solutions to protect the earth, promote livelihoods, and enhance human well-being.
We are inspired by and associated with World Resources Institute (WRI), a global research organisation with more than 400 experts and other staff around the world. World Resources Institute began in Washington, DC, in 1982 to provide cutting edge analysis to address global environment and development challenges. WRI spans more than 50 countries, with offices in Brazil, China, Europe, India, Indonesia, and the United States. In all of these locations, WRI works with government, business, and civil society to drive ambitious action based on high-quality data and objective analysis. WRI India has the capacity to convene key stakeholders, and forge strategic partnerships with governments, business, foundations, civil society organizations, institutes and NGOs, to scale-up solutions that can bring game-changing results for the sustainable management of natural resources in India.
Program Overview for Sustainable Cities and Transport
WRI India is seeking an intern for the Sustainable Cities and Transport Program to support our work on decarbonizing freight. The objective of the project is to develop a zero-emission vehicle transition plan for The Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (SUPPLYCO). The outcome of this work is to develop a trasition framework for government owned/controlled fleets.
How your day will unfold:
- Undertaking secondary research on the landscape of tractors, and global examples of agricultural mechanization.
- Conducting analysis on different data sets and generate actionable insights.
- Participate in interactions with officials from the UP Government, industry stakeholders, OEMs, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to the preparation of different types of collateral like reports, slide decks, etc.
- Contribute to the planning and management of events organized under the project like stakeholder convenings, webinars, exhibitions, etc.
- Contribute to outreach effort to disseminate or debate on project outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements we seek:
- Currently pursuing or graduated in statistics, transport planning, transport engineering, urban planning, public policy, or other relevant fields.
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research
- Proficiency in GIS software (like QGIS) and MS Office is a must.
- Ability to generate high quality research. Good writing skills is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner, think creatively, work efficiently under high pressure.
Stipend: 25000 Per Month
