Work under the direction of the Plant Manager to lead all plant environmental health and safety compliance and management system functions and activities. Provide prioritized EHS direction to plant of all EHS issues and regulatory concerns while maintaining communication with Corporate EHS. Develop and implement plant EHS compliance strategies to ensure compliance with various operating permits and relevant regulations and Corporate EHS Guidelines. Work with Ardagh Group Corporate EHS counterparts to improve overall EHS and EHS cost performance and on permit development. Work with Corporate Engineering project engineers with the engineering and starting of new installations. Initiate design develop implement maintain and monitor existing and comprehensive EHS programs. Support environmental compliance activities including, but not limited to, compiling emissions inventories, assisting in preparing and submitting permit certifications and other required compliance reports, permit applications preparation,strategy organizing, participating in emissions monitoring activities, reviewing and reporting emissions data, supporting management in legacy environmental risks general training, and coordinating responses to regulatory agency requests and enforcement actions with Corporate EHS. Interface with federal, state, and local environmental agencies on plant EHS issues. Develop and deliver training and/or training tools on all relevant internal EHS initiatives and regulatory requirements including, but not limited, to lockout/tagout, confined space, heat stress, hearing conservation, workers' compensation recordkeeping, responding to regulatory requests and enforcement action(s) to support safety and health compliance. Audit plant operation of Continuous Opacity Meter, Continuous Emissions monitors and emission abatement equipment for proper operation compliance with permits and regulations and maintenance and preventative maintenance. Lead, conduct, and/or manage EHS management system and compliance audits of the company facility to ensure compliance with internal requirements, as well as Federal, state, and local health and safety regulations. Troubleshoot environmental issues, and work with corporate furnace operations, engineers, and plant operations for out-of-compliance events. Conduct comprehensive analytical loss studies to identify areas affecting frequency and severity. Communicate findings and solutions to appropriate management and employees. Comply with Environmental and Food Safety standards as set forth in plant policies/programs within Department responsibilities. Undergraduate degree in environmental science or environmental engineering discipline required, and a graduate degree is preferred. Environmental professional certification is desirable. Minimum of six (6) years experience in planning, development, and implementation in an industrial manufacturing environment with EHS management systems and compliance programs. Must have solid knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS and DOT laws regulations rules and standards, as well as knowledge in Workers' Compensation administration. Ability to effectively work with all levels of management as well as bargaining unit employees. Must have excellent organizational and cross functional skills as well as oral and written communication skills. High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. Must be self-motivated and be able to make independent, informed and prioritized decisions. Must be able to work in both individual and team industrial work settings with minimal supervision.
