EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in industrial technology, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a closely related field. Experience in developing and delivering basic and advanced technical training programs. Demonstrated verbal, written, and research skills. Personal Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, and in CBT development software required. Progressively responsible and directly related technical and experience may substitute for educational requirements on a two years' experience to one-year education basis. Additional experience/qualifications in the following areas are highly desirable: CHMM Certification, formal Hazwoper training and experience, CBT course ware development, and ISO 9000/1400 Quality Management.
SUMMARY
Responsible for the training of approximately 400 bus maintenance and support
personnel in the areas of physical sciences, environmental awareness, hazardous materials management, emergency response, storm drain pollution prevention, and other related areas.
Coordinates with technical training staff to develop and integrate technology-based training methods into technical training programs. Develops and conducts various technical and environmental training courses and performs environmental hazards assessment. Responsible for the training of approximately 400 bus maintenance and support
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conducts classroom and on-the-job instruction for all maintenance and support personnel in the areas of environmental awareness, hazardous materials management, emergency response, storm drain pollution prevention.
2. Provides for the development and/or acquisition of training programs and materials for classroom and on-the-job training. Recommends improvements to the existing programs.
3. Instructs trainees in the safe use of equipment and materials.
4. Coordinates with technical training staff to develop and integrate technology-based training methods into technical training.
5. Monitors and evaluates the progress of employees in training and identifies overall training of units supported, by developing and delivering training programs. Identifies performance.
deficiencies and recommends future training. Assists branch managers in identifying training needs.
6. Completes, submits, and maintains accurate up-to-date training records, required reports and schedules.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Instructor must attain ASE certification for primary teaching courses within eighteen (18) months of assuming the instructor position; and must maintain the certification(s) for the duration of their tenure as a bus maintenance technical instructor.

1. Walks or stands up to 6 hours per shift (including classroom activities).
2. Occasionally kneels, squats, stoops, or bends.
4. Climbs catwalks, scaffolding, ladders, and stairs. 5. Walks on roofs, tracks, and rights-of-way.
6. Accesses manholes and similar locations.
7. Walks on concrete and other floor surfaces that may be slippery or uneven.
8. Occasionally lifts and carries equipment that weighs up to 30 pounds (infrequently materials up to 50 pounds).
9. Reaches from floor level to overhead.
10. Bends forward at the lower back to perform tasks.
