Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting our client in the search for an Environmental Communications Specialist. If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the position of Environmental Communications Specialist at Applied Environmental, a Woman-Owned environmental consulting firm located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
As an Environmental Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies and campaigns for our federal government clients. Day-to-day activities include providing outreach, event planning, training, and other communications and logistical support for environmental compliance programs, sustainability initiatives, energy conservation efforts, fire and life safety programs, and occupational safety and health programs.
You will work closely with our project managers and technical experts to produce high-quality content that showcases the impact and value of our work. You will also coordinate with various stakeholders at the agency to amplify our messages and reach a wider audience. Additionally, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and promoting large-scale events, such as Earth Day, Energy Action Month, Safety Month, and Fire Protection Week. You will also be producing accurate, timely content that adheres to client style guides and preferences.
This role is full-time onsite at a federal client site in Arlington, VA and you must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance which is sponsored by Applied Environmental.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following qualifications and skills:
- A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, environmental studies, or a related field
- Four to six years of experience in communications, preferably in environmental consulting or federal agency setting
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Creativity and innovation, with the ability to generate fresh and compelling ideas for different formats and channels
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines and changing priorities
- Knowledge and interest in current environmental issues, trends, and best practices
- Proficiency in using various tools and software for graphic design, video editing, web development, and social media management
The successful candidate will be joining a growing team of engineering, science, and communications professionals that focus on quality work and fostering collaborative, long-term relationships.
The salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $80,000, depending on years and type of experience.
