Supporting the Head of Sustainability and ESG Engagement (APAC) you will be leading, communicating and shaping our corporate sustainability strategy in the region including development and supporting the delivery of our regional sustainability and climate commitments; inclusion of Asia in global climate and ESG reporting; advising on governance, business strategies, and risk management; and engaging with clients, regulators and policymakers, investors and other stakeholders to support and inform the firm’s regional sustainability strategy.

- Build further internal regional awareness & alignment
- Regional input to Global Green Strategy
- Regional input to Global Sustainability Messaging
- Monitor broader sustainability related public policy, economic, industry and stakeholder developments (e.g. human rights/supply chain, DEI/human capital, critical minerals, plastics) that may impact the firm in APAC
- Develop Asia related recommendations for Biodiversity/Nature strategy
- Working with LOBs and bankers, including on regional strategy and attending client meetings as needed

Role Responsibilities:
- Keep abreast with and provide internal updates on trends, developments, and changing expectations on various priority issues in the area of sustainability and corporate responsibility.
- Drive ad hoc projects on a regional level/across multiple markets, working independently while collaborating with internal partners; support the APAC head on others (e.g. prepare slides and presentations, co-present)
- Support and lead engagements with external stakeholders and organizations as needed, in consultation with regional Head of Sustainability and other stakeholders
- Partner with Government Affairs and Regulatory Affairs on responses and issues related to sustainability, national climate policy, industry policy and related areas, working with
- Partner with the relevant internal business partners, including banking teams on executing strategy in APAC; provide input and advice to other partners including ESG Business Management, Compliance as needed
- Periodically update internal market analyses of sustainability issues and the firm’s sustainability related activities; build and periodically update regional metrics and KPI dashboard(s)
- Periodically lead training or present to groups internally to build further awareness of the agenda
- Develop board papers and materials for other meetings such as monthly ESG Governance meetings
- Manage, track team processes and output
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Effective project management, work prioritisation, analytical and research skills
- Bachelors Degree in business, environmental science, engineering, economics, finance, or similar
- Qualifications/business experience in ESG, climate/ESG risk, social/human rights a strong plus
- 5+ years’ experience in sustainability, sustainable finance/ESG, preferably with experience across Asia Pacific
- Experience/qualifications in business areas such as strategy, consulting or economic analysis a plus
- Experience working in the banking/financial sector preferable
- Experience working in sustainable finance policy and regulations in Asia preferable
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including facilitating group decisions
- Self-starter with problem-solving, outcomes-oriented, can-do attitude
- Effective communication both verbal and written, including presentation skills in English, with other Asian languages a strong plus
- Ability to work calmly and with attention to detail under pressure
