Our vision is to inspire students for success and build a better society through engaged social science. Continuing our investment in new talent, we are now seeking Research Assistant Professors to contribute to the Faculty Niche Research Area in "Smart Societies". Successful candidates will be housed in one of our seven discipline-based Departments (Education Studies, Geography, Government & International Studies, History, Social Work, Sociology, and Sport, Physical Education & Health).
The appointees are expected to conduct original research in one or more indicative theme areas outlined below, and contribute to department-based teaching. Applicants should possess a relevant doctoral degree or equivalent qualifications with strong potential in research.
Environmental and Urban Systems: Energy problems, resource and ecosystem management, human-environment interactions, and climate change mechanisms in China, Asia and Europe, including smart cities, smart energy, smart heritage, smart homes, resilient cities, global change and evolution and planetary urbanisation.
Populations and Wellbeing: For specific population groups, such as young people, the elderly, the mobile (migrants), and members of minority ethnic population, including active ageing, ethnic and racial studies, transnational networks, digital family hood, healthy living, digital divide and digital health care systems.
Learning, Praxis and Governance in Social and Global Development: Including e-governance, smart schools, disintermediated education, citizen science and data analytics applications.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years commencing in June to August 2024. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
