Position Overview: The Senior Director of Global Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) plays a pivotal role in driving a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization. In this role you will be responsible for mentoring and developing 2 direct reports as well indirectly responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of global EHS policies, programs, and goals in collaboration with ESG and Operations leaders globally.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement global policies and programs to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
- Establish an EHS management system framework and programs that empower teams to identify, assess, and control environmental, health, and safety concerns.
- Lead and enhance EHS initiatives, creating standardized programs, procedures, and expectations at all global sites while ensuring compliance with EHS legal requirements and best practices.
- Collaborate with company leaders to set and implement global EHS goals and objectives, and provide direction and mentorship to your teams.
- Employ a risk-based approach to EHS, offering tools, training, guidance, and support for teams to navigate EHS challenges effectively.
- Oversee EHS audits for global sites and serve as a bridge between EHS and other business partners and vendors.
- Provide strategic EHS support and analysis for business acquisitions, including risk reviews, insurance, site audits, programs, and procedures, with an emphasis on managing and developing teams.
- Manage and delegate high-impact and complex projects, including the development of strategic training programs and leading teams to achieve EHS objectives.
- Plan and strategize global EHS initiatives, aligning them with regional and global objectives while coaching and managing teams.
- Oversee and support global EHS software systems, ensuring your teams have the necessary resources and guidance.
- Collaborate across business functions when necessary and lead your teams in ensuring compliance for identified issues, violations, and business challenges.
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports for internal and external audiences and empower your teams to meet these requirements.
- Monitor and record site operations and engineering efforts to maintain compliance, with a focus on team leadership and development.
- Investigate regulatory findings, assess implications, and prepare relevant documents, guiding your teams through these processes.
- Identify local, state, and federal regulatory impacts on operations and manage the process of securing necessary environmental permits and approvals, providing guidance and support to your teams.
- Assist in submitting time-sensitive reports to governmental agencies and ensure your teams are equipped to meet these deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required, with a concentration in Industrial Health, Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Masters/MBA and relevant professional certification preferred.
- Fifteen years of experience in manufacturing, with a track record of leading, developing, and implementing EHS programs and managing teams.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (30-40%).
- Proficiency in English is required; bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
