Work Schedule
Students are asked to have office hours Monday through Friday, during the hours of 8am-5pm.
Ideally, the candidate may start working for a few hours during the 2024 Spring Semester to be mentored by the existing Waste Coordinator.
Position Description

Position Summary
This position helps to divert the University’s landfill waste through on-site composting and increased recycling. The Waste Coordinator will play a key role in managing waste on campus, including the campus compost effort, data collection and analysis, move-out, and assisting with the Food Recovery Network. Occasionally must be able to pick-up and transport food scraps for composting.

Proficiency with MS Office
Ability to influence and lead peers
Strong communication, both verbally and in writing
Passionate about implementing sustainability solutions to the campus environment

Primary Duties
1. Coordinate and promote the following :

Organize Compost Bucket program
Move In / Move Out programs
Campus Race to Zero Waste programming
Data tracking
E-Waste
Print Cartridge Recycling (Funding Factory)

2. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
Secondary Duties
1. Pick up all organic waste from different collection points around campus
2. Transport and dump all organic waste in the compost pile located on the back 40
3. Record all weights of the collected food scraps
4. Maintain cleanliness of work vehicles
5. Coordinate closely with departments of grounds and dining
6. Other duties as assigned
