Director of Environmental Engineering Services (PE) or (PG)

Location: Oakland, CA (with substantial presence/activities throughout Northern/Central CA.

Our Client is a California-based consulting firm providing technical, efficient and cost-effective solutions to our clients’ Industrial Hygiene, Regulatory Compliance and Environmental Engineering needs.  Headquartered in Oakland, California.  The firm also maintains offices in San Diego and Los Angeles. The ideal candidate for the Director of Environmental Engineering Services understands this role requires many levels of leadership to help advance our company to its optimal performance. The ideal candidate will exhibit:

 

  • Team Leadership – Translate our vision for the company into a compelling and tactical plan for your entire team. Performance Leadership - Deliver on the safety goals and financial budget (i.e., sales, net revenue, profit, and cash management) for your team. Contribute to company’s safety culture through active safety leadership. Have familiarity with and ability to operate in the “seller & doer” model, perform reviews of projects and coach our team to enhance the service delivery, client satisfaction and business growth.

 

  • Commercial Leadership - Participate in developing growth strategies and supporting the overall financial success of the company by working collaboratively with the Management Team. Ensure delivery on company services to key clients. This includes working on the development of key client action plans and championing the use of sales tools and training. Assist in the development and implementation of practiced growth.

 

  • Personal Leadership - The ideal candidate will be leading a significant part of the business for our company. S/he has a track record of successfully implementing growth strategies, having spent time in delivery and business development roles, and evoking change that resulted in a sustainable competitive advantage. This person will have interacted with client businesses in a fashion that has achieved trusted advisor status. S/he will have the natural ability to deal with ambiguity with the proven skill set of being able to instantly shift gears when necessary to offer creative approaches to emerging opportunities. The ideal candidate will have worked closely within the top ranks of senior management in a high-growth culture; this unique perspective will allow them to partner closely with our company’s senior management in the pursuit of ensuring our client management platform goes to market with a single face and strategy that align with overall business goals.

 

Responsibilities:

Like every member of our Team, your role as the Director of Environmental Engineering Services, is key to the company’s success. While the responsibilities of this position may vary day to day, in general your responsibilities include:

 

  • Developing, managing and/or performing environmental evaluations, assessments, investigations – including, but not limited to soil investigations, soil management plans, groundwater assessments, hydrological investigations, CUPA-directed site closure programs (UST, HMMP, etc), SWPPP-related plans and project oversight, and general hazardous materials evaluations and response actions.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing remediation plans and specifications;
  • Preparing Assessment and Remediation Reports.
  • Developing technical project proposals, presentations and detailed budgets.
  • Participating in technical development initiatives;
  • Performing Client Management and Development duties;
  • Ensuring regulatory policy compliance;
  • Supervising and providing technical guidance to Project Team;
  • Networking with environmental groups and organizations to contribute to local growth.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Sciences or related discipline
  • California Professional Engineer License (Civil) or California Registered Professional Geologist;
  • QSD (Qualified SWPPP Developer) Certification;
  • Experienced working in the Real Estate Development environment;
  • 10+ years consulting experience in the SF Bay Area;
  • Prior P&L responsibility (experience in managing a Business Unit preferred);
  • Strong ability to mentor/develop staff;
  • Proven track record of developing business and managing clients;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strategic thinking and “people” skills.
