NewGround, a world-class design and build firm headquartered in St. Louis and with offices across North America, is looking for an experienced Assistant Constuction Project Manager (ACPM) - Environmental Graphics, based in our Chicago studio (remote considered).
Who we’re looking for:
The ideal ACPM - Environmental Graphics has 3-8 years of experience who is ready to actively contribute on a variety of retail, hospitality and financial projects as part of the Environmental Design Team. Preferred candidates are a driven, self-starters who can act as the liaison between our construction management team and our graphic subcontractors and oversee installation of multiple Environmental Design projects. The ideal candidate will be ready to deliver on NewGround’s core values: Service, Innovation, Communication, Collaboration and Excellence.
What you’ll be doing:
The ACPM - Environmental Graphics will act as a point person for design-intent execution coordinating field, vendor and design team communications for Environmental Design scopes. This position will require collaboration with the Environmental Graphic Designers and Production Graphic Designers throughout the life of the project. The Implementation Manager is responsible for, but not limited to: maintaining project budgets, scheduling, preparation and confirmation of site readiness & conditions and supervision of partner installation teams.
As part of Branded Environments Implementation, 50-60% travel is required to attend installations and punch walks as needed. Outside of required travel, daily work is required in-office at our flagship Chicago office 3 days a week (Tuesday-Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday).
A remote position will be considered for the ideal candidate.
Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience in Project Management
- Experience on active build sites and facilitating punch walks preferred.
- Excellent creative thinking and problem-solving skills
- Basic knowledge of Environmental Design production processes and experience in dealing with third party printers, vendors and installers.
- Ability to work inter-departmentally to expedite company deliverables.
- Ability to coordinate and track timelines with general contractors, NewGround design teams and graphics subcontractors.
- Ability to manage project budgets including issuance of purchase orders and change orders, as required.
- Excellent collaboration and facilitation skills. Experience coordinating and traveling on behalf of the company expeditiously and with professionalism.
- Attention to detail, organization and interpersonal communication skills.
- Time management, project management software
- Experience in working with a diverse project team including, but not limited to, Architects, Interior Designers, Retail Designers, and external agencies.
Technical Requirements
- Required knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook.
- Experience using project management software such as Procore and/or SmartSheet (or similar).
- Ability to read and navigate construction plans.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating and maintaining project milestone dates and installation deadlines for graphics dedicated scope in coordination with larger construction schedules.
- Supervision of graphic installations, requiring travel and communication with outside team members.
- Manage subcontractor relationships alongside the Director of Environmental & Graphic Design, including vetting new subcontractors.
- Maintain proper documentation of subcontractor estimates, proposals, purchase orders and change orders for all projects.
- Responsible for navigating the communication channels between external subcontractors, clients, internal design and management team members.
- Assist Environmental Graphics Team with oversight and completion of projects.
- Develop strategies and lead efforts to grow NewGround’s Branded Environmental Design business in conjunction with Director of Environmental & Graphic Design.
- Maintain project status, updating the environments and broader project teams on a regular basis.
- Maintain a positive and professional mindset in all internal/external situations.
- Perform all other related work, as assigned or as apparent.
SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Business Development and Marketing in conjunction with the Director of Environmental & Graphic Design when required and available.
- Assisting with development, management and maintenance of departmental processes.
Travel is required.
