Job Description:
Maryland Environmental Service (MES) has an opening in the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Division for a full time Environmental Specialist (ES) or Senior Environmental Specialist (SES) at the Masonville Dredged Material Containment Facility (DMCF) in Baltimore City, MD. Primary responsibilities for this position include field work (sampling, monitoring and invasive control), writing and formatting technical reports, meeting summaries and other project related information, data review and compilation and other support tasks as required. The ES/SES will be required to drive to other DMCFs, field sites, or labs to fulfill sampling/monitoring requirements.
Estimated Pay Range:
ES: $46,001.76 - $54,350.00
SES: $50,601.10 - $62,000.00

Minimum Requirements:
For an ES: a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology, biology, chemistry, geology or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus one year of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering or management. For an SES: in addition to the education requirement listed above, a minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering or management. One year of experience must have included responsibility managing environmental projects and providing leadership to other professional and technical staff. An applicable advance education degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
Preferred skills: Fluent in MS Office Word, Excel, and Power Point and knowledge of water quality sampling, familiarity with NPDES permitting and associated sampling, wetland and upland plant identification skills, fish identification skills, proven experience with writing technical reports, experience or willingness to drive a 4WD vehicle, and be able to work in various weather and field conditions.
