Are you someone looking to contribute to transparency in the sustainability field? With your knowledge of sustainability reporting, you want to support companies in building their non-financial reporting disclosures and help them transition into becoming more sustainable. We, at ERM, the world’s largest advisory firm focused solely on sustainability, are seeking a dedicated colleague who is passionate about supporting companies with their reporting and communications journeys whilst driving impactful corporate sustainability initiatives. You will be working as a Managing Consultant for our Corporate Sustainability and Climate Change (CS&CC) team in the Netherlands.
As our new colleague, you will work on challenging projects with a focus on how companies report on their business activities. However, we also have experts focused on topics such as ESG strategy, impact measurement, and human rights, giving you the possibility to engage in the full range of our corporate sustainability-related services. We have a diverse client base which includes corporates across most sectors, as well as financial and government institutions.
Role responsibilities
As a Managing Consultant, you will play an active role in project management, client relationship management, and business development activities. You will be responsible for both managing and delivering larger projects focused on corporate sustainability reporting as well as sourcing new clients and projects for this service (e.g. CSRD, double materiality, EU Taxonomy, and other reporting frameworks). In your projects, you will manage a project team and provide guidance to junior colleagues, ensuring realistic planning, good communication with the client and team, and pursuing and monitoring the quality of service. You will work on a strategic level together with the client to understand their needs and identify how our teams can offer them solutions.
Internally, you will work together with the team to identify how we can build on our current services to help our team and clients create the most impact possible. This will include connecting your expertise and that of your team members to our potential new services and clients. You will work with experts all over the globe, and cross-collaborate with other teams in EMEA.
Who are you?
You are someone who loves working in a team environment and knows how to manage multiple (client) projects. Corporate sustainability interests you, and you want to positively impact the world with your work. You are proactive, know how to engage people, and are constantly looking to improve our team’s abilities and connection, but also our service. Other important qualities can include:
- Advisory skills such as analytical thinking, flexibility, and 360-degree communication;
- Relevant experience in consulting and/or in corporate sustainability (e.g. at an accountancy firm or in a CSR team);
- Experience with managing mid-to-large-sized projects and knowledge on how to manage and deliver multiple tasks simultaneously based on their different deadlines and requirements;
- People management skills, with a focus on well-being, both in a project team and broader team context;
- Fluent in both Dutch and English (oral & written);
- Knowledge of corporate sustainability reporting regulations and frameworks (such as EU Taxonomy, CSRD, SFDR, TCFD, SASB, GRI) and are aware of developments in the field, such as those around ESG strategy and carbon accounting (GHG Protocol, SBTi) and corporate due diligence (social impact scans, impact measurement).
Don’t become discouraged by all the competencies we are looking for. Of course, you don't have to excel in every one of the above. After all, we are looking for people, not machines! Apart from work experience and background, we find your enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and connection with our company and team most important.
What do we offer?
- A competitive salary, in line with your skills and work experience;
- 30 holiday days per year. Because time away from work is key to functioning properly.
- We will reimburse your commute with an NS business card that can be used for work and private occasions. If you need to travel by car, these costs are reimbursed as well;
- Flexible working, for this position you will be based in Utrecht (or Rotterdam) and can partially work from home (up to 3 days per week);
- Many personal development possibilities, through our Academy platform;
- A work laptop and phone;
- A good retirement and bonus settlement;
- We offer a safe and healthy work environment, as we find this top priority within our business. We go through many efforts to keep all our employees safe and healthy, such as providing our employees with a sports subscription, mental health support services and access to the Calmly app;
- A fun work environment in which you work together with dedicated colleagues who want to progress towards a sustainable future.
