Climate and Environmental & Social Risk management is a relatively new and rapidly evolving area of financial risk management, offering unique career growth opportunities.
The Firm’s dedicated Climate Risk and Environmental & Social Risk teams are responsible for establishing the firmwide framework and strategy for climate, environmental & social risk management, developing and advancing their policy and standards and providing subject matter expertise to a variety of internal stakeholders.
The Climate, Environmental & Social Risk Implementation function is tasked with integrating the Firm’s approach to managing these risks and overseeing plans to address associated regional regulatory requirements. The Implementation function works closely with subject matter experts from the Climate Risk and Environmental & Social Risk teams to translate the requirements into practical solutions and enhancing as appropriate the existing firmwide risk framework, policies and standards. You will need to be adept at navigating the Firm’s Risk Management and Compliance organisation, becoming familiar with the businesses and products offered globally by JPMorgan Chase. In doing so, you should be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in your interaction with key stakeholders within the Firm. In this regard, your experience undertaking leadership roles in initiatives for a global institution would be valuable to your candidacy.
Job responsibilities
- Guide the implementation of the Firm’s climate risk management framework, within the EMEA/LATAM regions
- Function as first-point of contact for the Climate Risk and Environmental & Social Risk teams regarding regulatory demands across the legal entities
- Ensure that the interpretation of regulatory expectations, use of climate data and scenarios, and documentation created is consistent with Firmwide practices, as applicable
- Represent the Climate, Environmental & Social Risk teams internally and externally in regulatory engagements
- Guide internal risk functions and lines of business in adapting internal policies to climate, environmental & social risk considerations
- Develop an external network, including through industry initiatives, to stay informed of the latest climate, environmental & social risk regulatory developments in the region
- Provide education to internal stakeholders and legal entity structures
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Environmental Science, Sustainability, Law, Economics, Finance, or International Relations. Master’s degree preferred.
- Considerable experience in:
- Risk Management, or in interacting with Risk Management
- Leading or coordinating regulatory compliance and governance initiatives within a global institution, preferably focused on ESG related themes
- Robust understanding of how a bank functions, including its key decision-making processes
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience delivering high-impact projects across multiple teams
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical solutions
- Knowledge of risk management practices, systems and processes
- Familiarity with the regulatory landscape; knowledge and understanding of international regulations and standards; preferably those related to climate, environmental & social risks
- Ability to convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly and draft high-impact presentations and documentation
