EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline. Seven years of directly related work experience in the principles of environmental/safety codes and regulations, EHS program development and implementation, and practices and techniques used in the conduct of complex environmental safety surveys, assessments, and accident investigations. Must have working knowledge of state and federal environmental standards, and industry standards applicable to environmental management, experience with Environmental Health and Safety Programs in a transit environment is preferred. Provide field direction to stakeholders and functional groups, MARTA staff, contractors and consultants concerning environmental, industrial hygiene, and safety programs. Must possess strong written and verbal communications skills. In lieu of a degree, directly related work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
1. A valid Georgia driver's license is required throughout employment and must be capable of operating a motor vehicle.
2. OSHA HAZWOPER 40 hour/8 hours current certification is required.
3. Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, Asbestos Inspector, Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, or Certified Industrial Hygienist is desired.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to work variable hours and shifts and be on call for environmental and health & safety emergencies. Must be capable of documenting industrial worksite inspections and audits through various means, which include, but are not limited to, still video camera, laptop computer, tape recorder, handwritten notes and drawings. Personnel in this class will be required to successfully complete the Authority’s Level 2 Wayside Access training and may be called upon at any time to enter the wayside in performance of assigned duties. This will require knowledge of and ability to perform train-flagging procedures to control train movement for the protection of the individual or others on the wayside.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develops and implements EHS programs, policies, and procedures that establish standards and responsibilities for affected Departments, Divisions, and facilities to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws regarding environmental safety.
2. Conducts audits on personnel, equipment, and facilities to verify implementation and compliance with Authority EHS programs, policies, and procedures and in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. Identifies, develops, and communicates corrective and preventative actions with Authority stakeholders.\
3. Supports environmental capital programs and environmental consulting services associated with capital programs. Manages environmental restoration programs associated with real property, liability associated with past disposal practices at nonAuthority facilities and environmental exposures associated with real estate acquisition and disposal.
4. Provides formal written reports to the Manager of Environmental Health and Safety for action by senior level Authority Managers. Prepares reports as required for governmental agencies.
5. Provides technical assistance to functional areas concerning EHS programs. This includes conducting EHS Program training sessions.
6. Responds to and investigates environmental spills, chemical releases and similar incidents to understand causes and identify appropriate preventive steps to avoid recurrences. Conducts and documents interviews with witnesses and responders.
7. Reviews and analyzes data associated with established EHS Program performance metrics (KPI) for trend analyses and to recommend corrective actions.
8. Provides support during regulatory inspections and other audits of the Authority’s facilities.
9. Leads Indoor Environmental Quality and Industrial Hygiene Assessments.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned
