What we are looking for
Due to a busy and diverse project portfolio, we are looking for professionals with a deep understanding of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) process and a keen interest in how to bring this to the assessment of offshore projects and operations in the context of environmental protection. You will provide leadership to study teams with EIA in the marine environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work as part of the highly skilled Environmental & ESG Team, supporting a wide range of clients on varied and interesting projects related to the energy industry.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading and executing environmental studies related to offshore developments from early-stage screening and risk assessment through to full-scale EIA to support consenting;
- Preparing biodiversity assessments and action plans for a range of offshore projects
- Conducting Critical Habitat Assessments
- Supporting Habitat Regulations Assessments
- Managing and contributing to deliverables such as EIAs and specialist studies
In addition, the role will provide the opportunity to:
- Act as client focal point;
- Write proposals in response to client requests;
- Provide mentoring to junior staff on a project level.
Our team supports a wide range of environmental studies and assessments, presenting a range of development paths for individuals to expand their skills and knowledge. The team carries a wide portfolio of projects requiring a diverse range of skills and we encourage all team members to diversify their competencies and gain experience beyond their core role.
Required Skills:
The successful applicant must:
- Have a degree in a relevant science or environmental subject ideally including a marine aspect;
- Hold experience in a similar role including EIA;
- Have experience of writing EIAs for offshore energy and infrastructure projects;
- Be a strong team player;
- Be self-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines;
- Have excellent written skills with attention to detail.
Nice to have:
- Desire to develop new skills and experience;
- Experience of proposal writing;
- Familiarity with ArcGIS.
It is essential that applicants must have the right to work in the UK;
Flexibility for ad hoc travel both within UK and abroad: Genesis and/or client offices / offshore visits.
