This position will report to the "Senior Director, Manufacturing Americas" and will be responsible for providing EHS expertise at the location facility and managing the various aspects of the EHS function with specific focus on driving improved results. Will be focused on identification, development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and programs through process-driven thinking, trend analysis and data-driven problem solving while ensuring we are meeting all EHS, ISO14001/ISO45001, State and Federal regulations and requirements.
This individual will play a key role in the development of short-term and long-term facility EHS strategies and actions that align with Hyster-Yale’s corporate and divisional goals of continuous improvement and process excellence. This position will be accountable for leading, facilitating and implementing the effective and consistent delivery of EHS programs and initiatives at the location facility.
What you will do:
- Manage and maintain necessary EPA/OSHA documentation and work closely with the TPA on the management of the site Workers’ Compensation claims and reserves analysis in order to provide recommended claim settlements and reserve adjustments to the site HR Manager.
- Manage EHS aspects, impacts and programs; assuring a safe and healthy workplace that is compliant with all applicable EHS policies, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ISO14001/ISO45001, State, Federal regulations and requirements.
- Manage and work collaboratively with affected support organizations (i.e., Facilities, Maintenance, Security, etc.) on safety and environmental initiatives and activities. Maintain necessary EHS reporting and communications to Division EHS.
- Support, when possible, facility’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP) leading to opportunities to reduce operating costs through the utilization of local and/or enterprise-wide EHS technologies, practices and best management practices.
- Facilitate site Emergency Response Team activities. Interface with site liability insurance partner(s)

- This position holds a specialized expertise in EHS compliance and is responsible for educating and influencing all levels of staff, including top leadership, at their facility regarding EHS legal requirements to ensure the facility not only meets all areas of compliance and drives improved EHS results but also plays a key role in current and future strategy development.

What you will need:
- B.S. degree in related discipline (Occupational Safety, Safety Sciences, and/or Environmental Engineering)
- Master’s degree preferred
- 8+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience, including previous leadership/management experience.
- CSP/CIH/PE/CHMM certification preferred
Skills, Experience & Abilities
- This role has significant impact to the sites EHS compliance responsibilities, Company liability and the reduction of Company risk related to Environmental, Health and Safety Federal and State regulations.
- The incumbent must be a strong communicator, with diverse groups of people throughout HYG’s global operations, under stressful conditions, and must have good organizational skills with regard to work priorities and project-management requirements
- Strong Project management skills
- Experience with the development of EHS metrics, regulatory compliance initiatives, professional development and retention strategies
- Have a specialized knowledge of Federal and State environmental health and safety regulations and requirements to include workers compensation, RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA, NPDES, CAA, PSM/RMP, SPPP/SPCC, DOT, OSHA and EPA.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of sound practices regarding ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ISO45001 Occupational Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Experience with Workers’ Compensation case management
