Position Summary:
The Coordinator position plays an integral role in educating, training, and supporting our student leaders; performing office management and administrative duties; spearheading projects and programs in our primary focus areas; and coordinating various operational commitments.
Job Description:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with EC Professional Staff and stakeholders (including students) to identify, develop, and manage projects and programs that 1) achieve the EC’s student engagement goals and student learning outcomes and 2) are aligned with FLC’s overall sustainability goals.
- Assist EC Professional Staff to recruit, train, educate, support, and retain student leaders to take part in the EC’s efforts; enable these students to explore their personal ethics/values, develop a sense of belonging, and gain professional skills.
- Assist in managing Environmental Center operations, including composting, recycling, growing spaces (garden and orchard), e-bike program, and landscaping.
- Assist in managing EC website, newsletter, social media, event calendar and other outreach and promotion avenues.
- Manage EC student employment processes (e.g., hiring paperwork, timesheet approval, scheduling).
- Manage general EC office maintenance and cleanliness.
- Sit on the FLC Campus Sustainability Committee to coordinate successful and impactful sustainability efforts for FLC and the greater community; align EC student-run projects with this work when able.
- Support FLC academic endeavors including, but not limited to, giving class presentations, supporting students on class projects and research, and developing new co-curricular opportunities.
- Assist the EC Assistant Director in developing, planning, and coordinating inspiring environmental/sustainability events and programming; these can range from retreats and workshops geared toward highly engaged EC students to larger campus-wide events designed to reach a broader audience.
- Assist the EC Assistant Director with assessment, tracking, and reporting for projects and programs; participate in strategic planning based on review of findings.
- Support broader FLC programming functions as needed.
- Facilitate students’ personal and professional development through coaching, mentorship, and training.
- Adhere to all necessary FLC administrative processes, policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
- Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
- Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental, educational, sustainability, or related field
- 2 or more years’ experience with student development and education
- Experience with project/program coordination/management
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Demonstrated commitment to environmental and social sustainability issues.
Preferred Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:
- Experience with waste, transportation, or energy-related sustainability issues.
- Experience with environmental policy issues.
- Experience with food systems and agricultural production in higher education, K-12, or other large institutions.
- Experience with ecology, land management, natural resource management, and/or conservation issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Master’s degree in environmental, educational, sustainability, or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, stay organized, self-direct workload, and adapt to change.
- Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues, students, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team settings.
- Demonstrated ability to foster excitement and engagement in students.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
- Experience with project based learning or similar pedagogical practices or theory
- Experience working in higher education.
- Experience working in environment/sustainability related non-profit organization.
- Experience with community or campus organizing and advocacy.
Reports To / Supervisory Responsibility:
The Coordinator reports to the Environmental Center Assistant Director.
The Coordinator oversees student staff at the Environmental Center.

- Ability to effectively perform work from a remote setting as needed and allowed (i.e., work from home).

- Light to moderate lifting and physical labor is required; occasionally lifting up to 40 lbs. of materials and equipment of various shapes and sizes (e.g., gardening equipment, bags of soil, etc.)

This position is:

- Part Time, and FTE .75
- Permanent
- 9 Month Position.
- Typical work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., with other hours, as necessary.

Compensation
The salary range for this .75 position is $31,725 to $35,250, per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
