Purpose:
The Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) Manager has responsibility for occupational safety, environmental management, ergonomics, workplace injury, worker’s compensation, and the security of the Jackson plant.
Responsibilities:
- In partnership with management, assist in developing and implementing site policies concerning EHS&S issues.
- Ensure proper training, understanding and adherence to EHS&S programs and policies throughout the facility and work with site leadership to drive a culture of safety and continuous improvement in EHS&S performance.
- Evaluate and act upon new environmental and safety regulations.
- Manage site activities which impact or are impacted by Federal, State, or Local EHS&S regulations.
- In collaboration with HR, oversee all Worker’s Compensations activities and cases for the facility.
- Monitor, direct and/or represent the facility regarding permit requests, renewals and adherence related to operations and construction.
- Negotiate and secure contracts for hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal and plant security.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to Environmental & Safety Associates and Wastewater Treatment Operators.
- Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies such as TDECA and TOSHA for inspections, permitting, and reporting.
- Assist with communication, investigation, evaluation, and response to events or conditions that are not consistent with site operations.
- Oversee and ensure the accurate completion and timely submission of EHS&S reports and others as required by law and company policy.
- Provide and present a monthly summary of EHS&S activities and performance – track and report monthly corporate sustainability data to the parent company.
Education & Experience:
- Must be conversant in EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
- Proven experience in a related position is required.
- B.S. Degree in Environmental, Safety, or related field is required.
- M.S. Degree in Environmental or Safety Engineering is preferred.
- Registered professional certification in the environmental or safety field (e.g., CHMM, CSP, or CIH) is strongly preferred.
