Role Summary
The Sustainability Manager is responsible to develop and implement Borr Drilling’s global sustainability strategy, both internally and externally. The Senior Sustainability Manager will shape the company’s Sustainability vision and drive the implementation towards building a top-class internal culture on sustainability in the organization on a global level. He/she will be responsible for influencing and collaborating with all levels of the company, as well as external partners and government agencies. The position will work closely with the Executive team to support and drive sustainability as an integrated part of the Company’s strategy and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the company’s ESG governance and strategy with a strong focus on achieve a commercially and technically viable pathway towards lower emissions business models.
- Responsible for the management of all sustainability related activities in the organisation on a global level, including ownership of relevant Policies and Procedures.
- Lead the global interaction and partnerships with external partners, clients, NGOs, and government agencies to ensure engagement related to sustainability.
- Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with the company’s leadership teams and various departments in the development and implementation of strategies and plans to promote industry leading sustainability performance and culture.
- Identify improvement opportunities in the organization when it comes to Sustainability results and profile of the company.
- Ensure sustainability is highly promoted, ensure maximum visibility of sustainability elements both internally and externally.
- Liaise with industry players, government and financial institutions to identify financing sources for Sustainability related projects and investments, including grants and green financing facilities.
- Overall responsible for overseeing sustainability input to tenders and bids, including working closely with the commercial group to develop commercial strategies to enable to delivery of sustainable activities and technology.
- Keep up to date with current research and legislation via specialist publications, following relevant social media groups and by attending relevant conferences.
- Lead the Company Sustainability Strategy and ensure it is revised and monitored for implementation as required across relevant areas of the business.
- Have an overview of available and future technologies to reduce emissions from offshore installations.
- Coordinate input and deliver yearly sustainability report aligned with Borr Drillings values and vision and in line with the sustainability strategy. Ensure consistency in reporting of sustainability data for the business, including data verifications by 3rd party verifiers as required.
- Support sustainability reporting, data analysis and program improvement initiatives related to logistics and personal transportation emissions.
- Work with external experts related to sustainability reporting to ensure Company report on relevant selected ESG platforms (Eco Vardis, CDP etc.).
- Monitor sustainability trends in the drilling industry as well as the energy sector ensuring the company stays in the forefront of the sustainability development in the industry, including governmental support programs for sustainability projects.
- Promote sustainability initiatives across the company covering, social inclusion and wellbeing, Environmental and climate change, Ethical business and governance and Collaboration for sustainable development. (E.g., zero waste, green chemicals, emission reduction initiatives, green energy, community projects, diversity, hydrogen project etc.)
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, sustainability, climate management, social sciences or related fields with proven experience with sustainability management and strategy.
Experience
- Experience and proven track record in developing, implementing and managing sustainability strategies at managerial level.
- Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry and offshore drilling is preferred.
- Good knowledge of international sustainability frameworks such as the GRI, IFRS/CSRD, UN SDG Goals and OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
- Familiarity with accounting and internal controls processes would be desired.
- Strong understanding of available financing opportunities for sustainability projects including experience with public and private grants and sustainable financing.
