As a Junior Environmental Technologist Student, you will join our Guelph or Mississauga, Ontario office as part of our Eastern Groundwater team for an 8 month co-op or student position starting May, 2024. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:
Assisting Project Managers, Engineers and Scientists in completing multi-disciplinary environmental and hydrogeological related projects, including but not limited to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Excess Soil Management, Site Remediation and Hydrogeological Study
Collecting soil and groundwater samples in the field
Preparing and organizing detailed field notes, compiling various field data
Preparing reports, summaries, tables and figures to facilitate interpretation of field data
Following standard operating guidelines and safe work practices while completing field and office work
Participating in project kick-off, staff-planning and on-site meetings
Travelling between worksites locally and within the region for extended periods of time and occasionally across Canada.
Maintaining and contributing to a positive working environment with colleagues
Performing other related duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For
Must be enrolled in an environmental, geoscience, or engineering program at a recognized post-secondary institution
Working knowledge of industry-standard software packages such as the Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of Ontario Regulation 153/04 and 406/19 would be an asset
Familiarity with health and safety training and protocols would be an asset
Excellent problem-solving ability and organization skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience writing technical reports
A valid class G license with no restrictions
