The Job You Will Perform:
- Operate and maintain measuring apparatus necessary to determine the level of pollutants involving air, land, and water.
- Assist in overall planning and installation of equipment revision relating to the environment systems by coordinating with the IP Maintenance Team including entering work orders and requisitions using a Maintenance Program.
- Perform testing or experiments requiring the use of non-standard procedures and complex instrumentation.
- Serve as a liaison between organization and regulatory agencies concerned with environmental controls .
- Provide third party laboratory oversight and complete QA/QC assessments of data to ensure only quality data is submitted to state organizations .
- Either possess or be willing to obtain Environmental Certifications including Wastewater Operator Class 1, Water Operator class 5, Landfill Operator, and Responsible Land Disturber.
- Responsible for calculating emissions and submitting regulator reports to state agencies.
- Responsible for renewing permits and licenses and submitting minor and major modifications as needed.
- Responsible for completing basic care and regulator inspections of remote areas including the Wastewater Treatment system, the Well Water System, Storm Water Outfalls, and the onsite Landfill.
- Responsible for developing Requests for Proposals, evaluating bids, choosing contractors year over year, and managing both the projects and budget of the projects under the guidance of the EHS Manager.
- Responsible for Managing contractors with respect to International Paper Non-IP Safety Program requirements.
- Responsible for participating in all IP safety programs.
- Responsible for enrolling in the IP Front Line Leader (FLL) program to act as supervisor to the Environmental Services team.
- Responsible for being on-call on weekends as scheduled to assist the mill with environmental compliance issues and during annual discharge season.
- Provide weekly updates to EHS team on work performed and propose solutions to issues as needs arise.
The Skills You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field
- 5 or more years of successful environmental, engineering, or operations experience
- Wastewater treatment plant and Water Treatment Plant Certifications preferred
- Team Building
- Management experience preferred with operators and/or maintenance staff
- Ability to work remotely and be self-driven
- Computer skills including Excel Spreadsheets, Word, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn new computer programs as used by International Paper adopted programs
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in a high pressure environment
