The Chattanooga Zoo is seeking enthusiastic individuals for the upcoming summer zoo camp season. Our June - July Summer Camp program is for children who are rising 1st graders - middle school age.
Camp Counselors are needed Monday through Friday to engage young campers with educational programming through interactive games, tours, animal encounters and crafts. Prior experience working with the public, especially children, whether formal or informal, is highly desirable.

Camp Dates: June 3rd - August 2nd, 2024; (Off July 1st - 5th)
Training: May 28th - May 31st, 2024
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitate educational programming, including activities and crafts
- Ensure the safety and well-being of program participants
- Organize and maintain program materials and supplies
- Manage groups of program participants
- Present live animals to program participants
- Provide direction to Camp Counselor Assistants
- Maintain clean and safe spaces and follow all safety protocols

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year working with children grades 1st-8th in the same capacity
- Must possess excellent communication skills
- Must enjoy working with children and have the ability adapt to different teaching situations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects. This position requires walking or standing for long periods of time.
Physical Environment:
This position is often exposed to external elements which include heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid and extreme weather conditions.
This position requires working with and around animals such as reptiles, birds, small mammals, and insects.
