Sublime's breakthrough replaces the industry's legacy fossil fuel-fired kilns with an electrochemical system that operates at ambient temperature, eliminating the use of fossil fuel and the need for limestone, resulting in low-carbon, low-embodied energy cement. Position Overview
Sublime is seeking a graduate-level intern to support a scoped commercial analysis project between March and June 2024. This person will develop the market and supply chain understanding of industrial waste products that are compatible with Sublime’s process technology. They will also evaluate applications for Sublime’s process technology beyond its primary use case (cement production). The research will prioritize the United States but include relevant international insights to assess global scalability. The primary goals are market definition, competing technology identification, technical fit evaluation, value chain outline and assessment, and prioritization of waste material markets specific to Sublime’s technology.
This is a remote role for an MBA/Master's level Intern.

Responsibilities Include: - Complete a detailed total addressable market sizing for each industrial waste product.
- Define the optimal size of a Sublime plant that serves each category of waste material.
- Evaluate the ‘technical fit’ of each waste product for integration into Sublime’s process technology.
- Co-develop (with the Sublime team) a set of criteria that enables quantitative and qualitative prioritization of each waste material / market.
- Apply that set of criteria to identify the primary industrial waste market (or markets) in which Sublime should prioritize their technology development and commercial outreach.
- Research, analyze, and describe existing and emerging technology competitors.
- Identify a prioritized list of potential suppliers / customers. This may include conducting multiple customer / supplier interviews, gathering and synthesizing their feedback.
- Collect data on input material prices that are usable for a future techno-economic model.
- Perform additional market research on industrial waste upcycling through external conversations with subject matter experts.
- Map the end-to-end supply chain of the prioritized waste material(s), including distribution channels, highlighting gaps or potential bottlenecks (e.g., which materials can be economically recovered from their sources and processed at an economical scale.).
- Identify existing or anticipated contractual arrangements required for successful commercialization.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements: - 2-4 years of professional experience
- Bachelor’s degree required (economics, business, engineering etc.)
- Currently enrolled, or will be enrolled (by Sept. 2024), in a Master’s degree program (MBA is preferred, other MS degrees will be considered)
- Strong understanding of how to quantitatively estimate the size of opaque markets
- Ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into commercial analysis
- Excellent analytical capabilities and attention to detail
- Highly proficient using MS Office Suite
- Creative thinker and go-getter who is not willing to stop at what the desktop research tells them
