Job Duties
Including, but not limited to:
- Must be able to perform varies duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, but related to shredder operation. These tasks include:
- Operating the shredder (mill).
- Monitoring and operating all cameras required to operate the shredder.
- Monitoring all gauge readings required to operate the shredder safely to prevent damaging critical components.
- Constant and clear radio communication on two different channels at the same time.
- Perform with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.
- Make appropriate job decisions following standard safety procedures and best practice precedents.
- Recognize emergency situations and take appropriate action.
- Think through consequences of a decision prior to making them.
- Adapt to frequent changes and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
- Examine critical shredder components daily.
- Monitor and record data that is required by operations permits. (employee will be trained)
Qualifications
- Understand critical shredder components (i.e. motors, conveyor belts, rotor, et...) and their basic operation. Training shall be provided
- Must be able to troubleshoot all critical shredder systems. Including:
- Hydraulic Power Units (HPU's)
- Liquid Rheostat
- 9000 HP Motor
- Infeed conveyor
- Double Feed Roller (DFR)
- Rotor
- Undermill Oscillator (UMO)
- Downstream Conveyor System
- Air Pollution Control System (APCS)
- TAME Unit
- Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer
- Scrubber
- Must be able to operate and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Read and interpret gauge readings of critical components (i.e. rotor RPM, bearing temperatures, liquid rheostat temperature, UMO stroke, etc.) to ensure the safe and productive operator of the shredder.
- Ability to communicate and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
- Basic computer skills, including, but not limited to: basic Windows 10 operations and troubleshooting, PC hardware troubleshooting, etc... An online Computer Skills Test will be required to ensure compliance with this requirement
- Employees in this position prior to April 2014 are presumed to be qualified and are "grandfathered" into their positions.
- Must pass a medical physical and drug test
- Must pass a background check and credit check
- Minimum 2 year of college education with emphasis in science.
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills are required

• Hand Movements: Repetitive motions, typing
Pay rate: $28-$30/hr
