To work as part of Reclamation and Construction service group to manage and execute environmental remediation and reclamation projects for clients throughout Western Canada and oversee the technical support staff. This full-time position requires a combination of office and field work in a consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessing project requirement and client needs for the development, preparation and management of work plans, budgets and implementation schedules.
- Developing work plans and cost estimates for projects including remediation, pre-reclamation assessments, vegetation monitoring, site maintenance, full reclamation earthworks, and detailed site assessments to manage an overall client portfolio.
- Synthesize published and site-specific information to develop an interpretation of the site conditions, understand and communicate key site issues.
- Planning, organizing, and overseeing the execution of remediation and reclamation projects.
- Compilation and interpretation of the data collected and report writing and report review
- Mentor staff on completing reports, supervision of ESAs, remediation and reclamation projects and management of sub-contractors.
- Execute all aspects of the project following the contract and ensuring the quality of processes and deliverables.
- Provide regular and accurate tracking of incurred costs and forecasts of costs and completion milestones in cooperation with the accounting team.
- Manage numerous projects of low to medium complexity, including sub-consultants and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively (verbally and written) with clients and internal personnel as required, including within multidisciplinary teams.
- Complete senior review of drafted report and professional sign off, where appropriate.
- Support the remediation and reclamation discipline and actively pursue opportunities to promote the development of the discipline.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Applicable Bachelor’s degree or Diploma with emphasis on reclamation or soil science;
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the execution and management of site assessments and reclamation, focusing on the oil and gas industry.
- Eligibility for membership in a relevant professional organization is required.
- Knowledge and experience with the 2010 Reclamation Criteria and Guidelines as well as the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Remediation Guidelines.
- Knowledge and experience with the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation and BC ER Certificate of Restoration program.
- Knowledge of the reclamation certificate application process and a strong understanding of agricultural, forestry and oilfield practices.
- Must be able to meet the requirements of site access as dictated by our clients, this may include pre-access drug, alcohol and fitness testing, and
- possess a valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license.
Other Knowledge and Skills
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite. Proficiency in presenting complex results clearly
- Ability to communicate changes to reporting processes to a broad audience
- Ability to work as a part of a team interacting with other team members and contractors.
- Strong understanding of agriculture, forestry and oilfield industry; including associated practices and sciences.
- Knowledge of reclamation certificate application process.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and be able to work effectively in a multiâdisciplinary setting.
- Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel; and
- excellent safety attitude
Working Conditions
- This individual should expect to spend time at client sites; This individual may conduct assessments at industrial facilities and or greenfield sites in remote locations. In some cases, the field work may include carrying sampling equipment.
- Office environment that requires sitting for extended periods of time, as well as field work.
- Prolonged exposure to computer keyboards and computer screens.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Sometimes requires long hours of work. Occasional interruptions outside work hours and travel to other locations are required.
- Ability to work varying shifts, including the occasional evening and night.
- Required to walk, stand, climb, bend forward, kneel down, crawl, reach and grasp, push and pull objects, lift and/or move up to 30 kg, sometimes over the shoulders, repetitive bending and lifting of items, along with repetitive arm movements.
