Office Attendance - Our roles are hybrid; however, you should be able to work from your nearest Tesco Insurance and Money Services’ Office 2 days per week. Occasional travel to other Tesco offices may also be required.

We’re growing our Engineering team, and we’re looking for an Environment Manager to lead the charge in ensuring we have fit for purpose test environments to support testing our systems to assure quality on behalf of our customers and colleagues.
Leadership: As an Environment Manager, you’ll help to lead within the engineering community across multiple cross-disciplined engineering feature teams and large project change across the enterprise, providing an opportunity to demonstrate and enhance your leadership skills
Influence on Direction: You’ll support the Quality Assurance Manager to set the Test Environments direction and drive through improvements, features, and changes while delivering on committed product changes. This allows you to make a significant impact on the product and the team.
Mentorship Opportunities: You’ll work closely with all engineers, from seniors to juniors, mentoring and building their careers. This provides a chance to share your knowledge and help others grow.
Collaborative Environment: We encourage all engineers across the disciplines to share new ideas, challenge existing practices, and look for opportunities to improve their teams and the wider engineering community creating a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Subject Matter Expertise: You’ll act as one of the subject matter experts on Test Environments. Allowing you to showcase and further develop your expertise. You’ll support the maintenance of standards and best practises within test environments ensuring these are all understood for all areas.
Career Advancement: Working closely with Quality Assurance Manager on longer-term Test Environments goals provides an excellent opportunity for career advancement.
What you’ll be doing
• Supporting setting the test environment standards and controls across Technology and ensuring that they are being followed on all releases
• Producing quality metrics across Insurance and Money Services to support continuous improvement
• Ownership of the Test Environments strategy and Test Environment Management Framework
• Managing the schedule for Environment Bookings and Deployments while interfacing with environment management teams from other providers
• Tracking the exact versioning of all the artefacts across test environments at any point in time while ensuring this can be recalled for audit purposes
• Implementing schedules that allows critical BAU changes to navigate applications migrations
• Identifying and managing environmental conflicts ahead of time
• Triaging environmental issues and incidents which impact test environment availability.
• Recommend best practises for optimising approach to tracking environmental availability
• Capturing KPIs to show the efficiency of the environments through the route to live
What we’re looking for (essential)
• Demonstrable experience of Environment Management roles in medium to large enterprise organisations
• Experience with cloud-based technologies (AWS and Azure(fabric))
• Excellent stakeholder and management skills.
• Strong understand of the SDLC lifecycle and associated delivery methodologies (DEVOPS, Agile, Waterfall)
• Expertise in release planning, deployment coordination and change control processes to support the RTL.
• Excellent Problem Management skills to assist with the triage and resolution of environmental issues and defects where required.
• Strong technical background demonstrating an understand of network topologies, tiered application architecture and APIs (both internal and external (third party vendors).
• Familiar with JIRA, Service Now and the Atlassian Tool Set for defect tracking, change request & Incident management
• Proactive in identifying and resolving environment-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to testing and production.
• Excellent documentation & governance with strong attention to detail in maintaining environment plans, release logs, and deployment records.
• Established and monitored key health metrics for test environments (uptime, performance, downtime etc) using Datadog toolset.
• Experience in documenting test environment topologies, configurations, and operational procedures.
