DescriptionReporting to the Manager Regulatory Services, the Team Leader Environmental Health provides leadership and operational oversight of the Environmental Health team, ensuring the delivery of high quality regulatory and public health services to the community.
This is a key leadership role with responsibility for statutory compliance, team performance, service improvement and operational decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the day to day operations and workload of the Environmental Health team
- Administering and enforcing food and public health legislation to ensure a safe food supply and healthy environment
- Providing leadership, coaching and development to Environmental Health Officers
- Implementing strategies, plans, systems and procedures aligned with Council’s strategic objectives
- Monitoring team performance through KPIs and reporting outcomes to senior leadership
- Managing risk, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Building effective relationships with internal stakeholders, residents, businesses, SA Health and other agencies
- Contributing to budgets, resource planning and service reviews
Occasional out of hours work is required to meet operational needs.

About You
You are a confident, people focused leader with strong technical knowledge in environmental and public health regulation, and a commitment to service excellence.
Successful Candidate will have:
- A Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health), Associate Diploma in Environmental Health, or other qualifications recognised by SA Health for appointment as an Authorised Officer under the SA Public Health Act and Food Act
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams
- Sound knowledge of food safety, public health and local government legislation
- Strong problem solving, negotiation and decision making skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- A customer centric approach and commitment to continuous improvement
- Current Class C SA Driver’s Licence

Salary range is between $117,544 to $124,538 plus superannuation guarantee and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, experience and qualifications.
