Key point of contact for Australia based Environmental business for GCC India, including direct liaison with Head of E&E Australia-GCC India, Australian Business’s Directors and Project Managers
Business, operational & commercial management – input to and delivering on business plan & budgetary targets
Commercial governance – project reviews, forecasting and resource management
Divisional Resource Management – GCC utilization
Technical governance of the E&E teams output working within Australian technical governance frameworks for of all deliverables
Supervising ensuring the competence, quality and timely submission of deliverables and coordinate inputs from other areas across the business both in India and Australia
Liaising with project managers you will play a key role in managing technical excellence of our teams input to our projects with a common goal to achieve client satisfaction in our work.
Supporting Australian teams with bidding opportunities
Line Manager – PDRs, promotion, training & mentoring
Staff/Team Development – support, training, nurturing
Representing the Australian E&E business within the wider Indian Business
This role will work closely with Australian leadership team, Reginal Directors, Project Directors, Project Managers, Technical Directors and the Business Development team across the E&E Business Unit (and wider WSP Australia / global business).
Project management, technical leadership and timely delivery of technical outputs from inception to completion with a range of internal US colleagues including:
Act as the ‘face’ of the India-based Environmental department
Local health and safety, welfare, risk, information security, and assessment / compliance
Project, programme and financial management
Promote WSP’s Vision and Values
Actively promote the Australian E&E GCC Charter within the team and that the staff deliver on the Charter promises
Interfacing with multi-disciplinary project teams
Supervising the preparation and checking of documents, reports and other technical outputs / deliverables from a variety of Environmental related disciplines
Provide highly visible, inspirational leadership and direction for the GCC Environment teams and ensuring that it is aligned with the wider Australia business
Facilitating team members towards professional accreditation or equivalent
Carry out and report on staff appraisals and performance development reviews
Recruitment to achieve budgeted and programmed team growth
Monitor and review team capability in the use of the required standards, processes and software tools and, with technical colleagues, identify training required
Identify opportunities to upskill existing technical resources or recruit new capabilities to deliver additional services or enhance existing ones
Identify further skills that could be brought into the GCC to deliver additional services or enhancements to the Environmental businesses
Ensuring that quality procedures are implemented and maintained
Seek regular feedback on team performances, ensure criticisms are positively converted into opportunities for improvement, lessons learned exercises with appropriate changes implemented
Develop / maintain excellent client relationships ensuring repeat business and client satisfaction, internally and externally
Contribution to bids and marketing material
Contribute to the design of operational processes, systems, quality measurement processes and achievement of performance KPIs
Ensure designs are coordinated with due consideration of any applicable Health & Safety, CDM or Quality Assurance standards
Interpretation of statutory and industry requirements, standards and practices to our Strategies and Policies
Carry out review of adherence to Quality processes and implement corrective measures where required
To lead the local Safety, Quality, Environmental and Information Security agenda together with the development of technical excellence, through training, mentoring, project reviews and knowledge sharing.
Key Competencies / Skills / Qualifications
Mandatory Skills
You should be able to demonstrate a proven working knowledge of Australian market in Environment related services and projects
Track record as senior technical leader delivering Australian projects for minimum 5 years
Excellent communication, internal client handling, interpersonal skills and listening skills with the ability to influence and interact with people
Technical manager with management acumen and strong leadership skills
Excellent spoken and written English
Australian experience is mandatory
Open minded and intellectually agile
A hard-working self-starter with initiative and ability to work within a team environment
Understand own strengths and impact, adapting behaviour according to different situations and individuals
Professional mannerism and ability to work effectively under pressure
Act ethically with fairness, honesty and integrity
Capacity to visit Australia as required for 2 to 4 weeks
Desired Skills
Significant experience in a relevant Environmental field
- You should be able to lead teams and help with the operational management of a team of 50+ staff
Membership of relevant professional institution
Proven ability to apply innovation and advanced techniques to design and construction solutions
Successful track record of delivery in the infrastructure development sector within the context of a professional services provider
Awareness of different lifecycles and the implementation of lifecycle approaches to projects
Qualifications
• Educated to Bachelor / Master’s degree level in Environmental Science, or a relevant field to the Environment disciplines
• Professional / Chartered Engineer or relevant equivalent status in Australia
• Seasoned professional with at least 15 years of diverse experience in delivery of Environment services in a consulting engineering environment.
