Reports To: Facilities & Projects Manager
The maintenance team plays an integral role in the success of AWCC by ensuring the facility is safe for guests and employees alike. Daily checks to make sure equipment is running properly, animal habitats are secure, pedestrian space is free of any hazards, buildings are stable, and grounds being maintained are vital to our operation.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promotes a safe working environment, adheres to OSHA guidelines
- Must be comfortable working in and around large ungulate wildlife. Assists in helping the animal care staff with husbandry care for large game
- Practice safe working habits including bending and lifting appropriately to avoid injury, reporting hazards, appropriate use of cleaning chemicals and working to minimize tripping hazards
- Fencing and enclosure maintenance tasks as required
- Post hole digging, safe operation with basic hand tools
- Safe and effective power tool operation including drills, saws, and chain saws
- Ability to drive medium to larger sized equipment. Equipment includes 4-wheelers, gators and a tracked Bobcat skid steer.
- Assistance with road, vehicle, building, fencing, painting, plumbing and custodial job duties and tasks
- Ability to work on a small team in a fast paced environment with varying duties on a daily basis
- Ability to take direction as well as work independently
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and multi-tasking, guest-oriented environment
- A team player and a self-starter, able to work independently
- Ability to listen, learn, understand, and follow instructions and directions
- Must possess positive attitude and respectful attitude
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently
- Available to work varying shifts/hours based on business need, including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to work outdoors in extreme wind, temperature, rain, and winter conditions
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Must provide proof of Tetanus vaccination
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience using typical power tools, including string trimmers, drills and saws
- Experience working around heavy equipment
- A basic knowledge of the area and its surroundings
- Bilingual or Multilingual skills ideal, but not required
- Availability: 6 month position, May 1 - Oct 31. Dates are FLEXIBLE.
