Senior Business Development Manager
ATOM Modular | Victoria |Full-time
You’ve done the hard yards.
You’ve cold-called, you’ve been told no a thousand times, and you’ve figured
out how to win anyway. Now you’re looking for the role where all of that
experience actually compounds into something — real money, real ownership, and
a seat at the table where decisions get made.
That’s this role.
ATOM Modular is growing fast,
and we need someone who wants to grow with us — not just fill a territory, but
help shape where this business goes next.
About ATOM Modular
ATOM Modular designs, manufactures, delivers, and installs high-quality modular and portable buildings for some of Australia’s toughest industries — mining, construction, infrastructure, industrial, and agriculture. From site offices, lunchrooms, and ablutions through to accommodation, training rooms, and fully customised facilities, we deliver functional spaces on time, made in Australia, for Australians.
We’re a proudly family-owned, Australian-owned business headquartered in New Gisborne, Victoria, with a Queensland office in Burleigh Heads supporting clients nationwide. Our manufacturing facility produces up to five modular units a week, with standard lead times of just 3–5 weeks — a turnaround the market can’t match. We don’t stop at the build either: we support clients with transport, installation, fitout, and supporting equipment, so they get one provider managing the whole job.
ATOM Modular is part of a family-owned group that includes RhinoSite. We’re entrepreneurial, collaborative, and growing — and we’re looking for people who are hungry enough to help us get there.
Our Core Values
• Own It — Your pipeline, your relationships, your results. No excuses.
• Quietly Passionate — We let our work do the talking.
• Blue Sky Grit — Big thinking backed by relentless execution.
• Safety Always — Non-negotiable, every site, every time.
Why This Role Is Different
You’ll have a lead gen team — and your own drive. We have a lead generation team creating opportunities for you, but you’re not the kind of person who sits around waiting for the
phone to ring. When the pipeline needs feeding, you get after it. Your highest-value work is in the room closing, but you’ll never be above picking up the phone.
The product sells itself — if you understand the client. Our Australian-made modular buildings, fast lead times, and end-to-end support are genuinely better than what most clients are cobbling together from offshore suppliers and disconnected trades. The BDMs who win here are the ones who listen deeply, connect the dots between a client’s pain and our solution, and make it easy to say yes.
The upside is real. Uncapped commission. A 5% profit share program. And a business that’s scaling — which means the territory you build today becomes more valuable tomorrow.
What You’ll Do
Close Deals
• Take qualified leads from our lead generation team and own the process from first meeting through to signed contract.
• Run deep discovery conversations — understand how each client’s project or operation works, what’s keeping them up at night, and where our modular solutions solve problems they didn’t know they had.
• Build tailored proposals that position ATOM Modular as the obvious choice — not on price, but on quality, speed, reliability, and ease.
• Navigate multi-stakeholder decisions with confidence — site managers, project directors, operations leads, procurement — and bring them all to yes.
Build Relationships That Stick
• Turn new clients into repeat clients. The best customers in our market keep coming back when they’re looked after — you’ll be the one making sure that happens.
• Become the person clients call when a new project lands on their desk.
• Spot opportunities to expand scope and services within existing accounts — additional buildings, fitout upgrades, supporting equipment, future stages.
Prospect and Hunt
• You’ll have a lead gen team creating opportunities, but you own your Victorian pipeline. If it’s light, you fix it — phones, site visits, network, events.
• Attend industry events and build the kind of relationships that create deal flow others can’t generate.
• You’re never above cold calling. The best closers know how to open doors too.
Shape the Business
• Feed insights back from every client conversation — what are they asking for, where’s the market heading, what should we be building next?
• Contribute to pricing, positioning, and go-to-market strategy.
• Participate in weekly L10 meetings and quarterly planning — your input matters here.
What You Bring
Experience
- 3–5+ years in B2B sales or business development in
modular/portable buildings, construction, civil, mining services, hire/rental,
or related industries.
- A track record of winning new business — not just
managing what’s handed to you.
- Experience selling to project managers, operations
managers, and procurement across construction, infrastructure, mining,
industrial, or agricultural clients.
- A network across the Victorian construction, civil,
mining services, or industrial sectors is a serious advantage (but not a
dealbreaker if you know how to build one fast).
The Right Wiring
- You’re a closer. You know how to take a qualified
opportunity and turn it into a signed contract.
- You ask better questions than anyone in the room — and
you actually listen to the answers.
- You’re commercially sharp — comfortable talking money,
margins, and contracts without flinching.
- You build trust fast, whether you’re in a hard hat
on-site or across the table from a procurement director.
- You’re resilient. Bad days don’t become bad weeks.
- You’re disciplined with your CRM and your forecast —
because you know that’s how you earn trust internally.
What Sets You Apart
- You want more than a job — you want a platform to build
something.
- You’re self-directed but not a lone wolf. You thrive in
a team that moves fast and backs each other.
- You’re curious about how projects and operations
actually work, not just how to close them.
- You’re comfortable on a construction site, mine site,
or industrial yard in boots and a hard hat — this isn’t a work-from-the-café
role.
What’s In It For You
- Competitive base salary + uncapped commission — your
effort directly drives your income.
- 5% profit share program — you win when the business
wins.
- Company vehicle and phone.
- Weekly MyMuscle Chef meals.
- Direct access to ownership in a flat structure — no
layers of middle management between you and the people making decisions.
- A collaborative, entrepreneurial culture where your
ideas actually get heard and acted on.
- Real career progression — into leadership, into broader
group roles, into whatever you’re building towards.
- Team events, milestone celebrations, and people who
genuinely like working together.
