What does the job involve?
The Equinor Renewables Technician (SAP) serves as the Senior Offshore Authority for electrical, hydraulic and mechanical isolations, balance-of-plant maintenance, and operational control during 14-day offshore rotations. This position provides leadership, technical oversight, and high-level operational decision-making to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient facility operations in the challenging offshore environment.
The Technician (SAP) reports directly to the Offshore Maintenance Leader and serves as the offshore leader of Electrical High Voltage Safety and job execution. The role requires a high level of technical expertise, including the ability to lead HV switching, complex troubleshooting, and isolation management across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. It also requires a high level of integrity and independent discretion, demonstrated leadership experience, strong communication competencies, advanced HMI/computer proficiency, and the ability to guide teams in adverse marine conditions.
Regarding Operational Safety (SSU), these roles are responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe operating environment within the wind farm. They ensure that safety is embedded and upheld in day-to-day operations and manage the safe delegation of tasks in accordance with the Equinor Electrical Safety Rules.
What will my tasks be?
Within this position, your key tasks will be to:
Acts as the senior on-site authority for safe work execution, isolations, and maintenance oversight.
Oversees technical accuracy of maintenance documentation, system isolations, and work orders.
Exercises full authority to stop work, modify work plans, and escalate technical / safety issues.
Reviews, validates, and approves isolation plans, switching schedules, and maintenance procedures.
Applies advanced knowledge of electrical (including HV systems), mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to delegate and supervise troubleshooting activities.
Interprets engineering standards, regulatory requirements, OEM documentation, and operational policies to guide work execution.
Plans and verifies effectiveness of operational changes, engineering updates, and safety improvements carried out by OSW maintenance technicians.
Exercises independent judgment in identifying risks, evaluating system conditions, and implementing operational controls. Makes recommendations for improvements or changes.
Conducts root-cause analysis and provides engineering-level recommendations for corrective actions and performance improvements.
Ensures all work complies with national electrical codes, HV safety rules, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma required.
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of 4 years’ relevant training gained through OTJT (e.g. apprenticeship, military experience, etc.) or technical school.
10 years of relevant work experience.
At least 3 years of experience leading others in a power plant or industrial operations environment. (Less senior level)
At least 8 years of experience leading others in a power plant or industrial operations environment. (Senior level)
Strong HMI and computer skills (HMI systems, Microsoft Office applications).
Advanced Technical Training in relation to Engineering provided by Offshore/OEM.
Safety and Operational Governance Training (GWO, OSHA, HV Ops).
Preferred Requirements
Certificate or Associate of Applied Science in Wind Turbine Technology, or completion of an accredited apprenticeship.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with diverse personnel.
Demonstrated initiative and motivation to learn new technologies.
Annual salary range: US$ 175,000.00
