Are you up for a challenge? Are you a self-starter with a passion for people? Would you like to join an innovative, agile company and contribute to its sustained growth?
Currently experiencing strong strategic growth, the company is accelerating its development in the space sector. While consolidating our historical positioning on high-performance institutional missions (ESA, CNES), we are deploying a strong ambition in the New Space market to address constellation and commercial needs.
Within our Space & New Space Business Line, you will join a dynamic team developing embedded optical payloads (including our SPEO product line) as well as complex Optical Ground Support Equipment (OGSE) for integration and calibration.
Reporting to the Technical Directorate, you will act as the Design Authority for the development of complex systems, ranging from flight instruments to high-precision OGSE.
As a System Engineer, you guarantee the global technical coherence from the definition phase up to the final delivery. Acting as a true technical "conductor," you ensure the functional management of the architect teams and drive the necessary trade-offs to guarantee final performance.
Your main responsabilities will be as follows :
Architecture & Design:
Translate scientific/customer needs into technical specifications for Flight Models or Complex OGSE.
Define the system architecture and its sub-systems (Optics, Detection, Mechanics, Thermal, Electronics, Software).
Define and manage interfaces (Satellite/Platform for instruments, or Instrument/Test Bench for OGSE).
Performance & Margin Management:
Drive "Trade-offs": Lead complex technical arbitrations to optimize the performance/constraint ratio (SWaP for Flight, Stability/Accuracy for OGSE).
Manage Technical Budgets: Supervise the specialty architects responsible for their respective budgets, while consolidating the global performance budget (MTF, WFE, Radiometry, Pointing).
Manage technical margins and associated risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Technical Coordination:
Ensure the functional management of architects and technical specialists.
Guarantee the coherence of internal interfaces.
Prepare and lead major technical reviews (PDR, CDR) with clients (Agencies, Primes, New Space players).
Integration, Verification & Validation (IVV):
Define the IVV strategy and the definition of necessary OGSE/EGSE.
Supervise test campaigns (optical performance, thermal vacuum, vibrations).
Analyze results, handle non-conformities (NCRs), and pronounce the final qualification.
Position based in: Aix-en-Provence (France - 13).
Hybrid / Toulouse Option: The position is also open to candidates based in Toulouse (France - 31). Bertin Technologies will provide office space in Toulouse. Regular presence at our Aix-en-Provence headquarters is required (one week per month).
