Major Duties
As a Supervisory Meteorologist, you will perform the following duties: Serve as the Center Weather Service Units (CWSU) Operations Branch Chief for the Aviation Weather Center (AWC) to supervise and direct the operational activities of teams of meteorologists engaged in a highly technical aviation forecast and weather impacts messaging program. Exercise supervisory authority to delegate work, develop plans, support personnel needs and address concerns. Maintain internal, domestic and international stakeholder relationships to improve the effectiveness of aviation warning, forecast and service programs. Disseminate aircraft accident intelligence received from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board, and Airlines to weather offices in the continental United States and process of forecast records needed for aircraft accident investigation and litigation proceedings. Perform applied research and coordinate research efforts that improve and implement the latest aviation weather prediction technological advances critical to the AWC mission and stakeholder requirements. Ensure a system of quality control for services and products provided by the AWC.
