Job Overview:
The Associate Civil/Structural Engineer will conduct structural design evaluations and calculations under the guidance of a lead engineer to support proposal estimating and provide construction support efforts for utility scale solar projects.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Proposal Estimating:
o Review client provided reports, such as: Geotechnical, Topographical, Environmental/Ecological, Hydrological and flooding studies.
o Conduct an approximate 10% design of the civil and structural aspects of a project with specific focus on pile-design.
o Balance civil and structural design requirements to ensure cost-effective project execution.
- Construction Support:
o Support project teams by working with the Engineer of Record to address civil and structural questions and concerns that arise during the design and construction phase.
o Review and provide comments on the Structural design package provided by the Engineer of Record at 30%, 60%, 90% milestones.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geological, Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent required.
• Engineering Intern (Fundamentals of Engineering, F.E., exam passed) preferred.
• Proven experience with L-Pile design software preferred.
• GIS and/or AutoCAD Civil3D experience preferred.
• Civil grading and SWPPP experience preferred.
• Solar related experience preferred.
PREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% to visit project sites as necessary.
