DescriptionThe Senior Associate will oversee various elements of the Investment and Funding cycle to secure investments in and the financing of projects. This Senior Associate will report directly to the Department Head and will assist in leading the Investment & Funding Group’s activities in all matters pertaining to the financial, commercial, economic and risk evaluation/analysis of projects that Pele Green Energy (‘’PGE’’) has invested in all future projects that the Pele Energy Group (“PEG or Group’’) will invest in. The Senior Associate will also contribute to the strategic direction the business unit providing input where required.
RequirementsJob Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide guidance in the financial modelling and analysis supporting investment decisions for new project development.
- Organise transaction teams, provide guidance, coaching and lead the financial and commercial scope of works to ensure that all projects reach Financial Close on time and within required investment returns.
- Provide strategic support and guidance in the financial and commercial scope of works to ensure that all projects that reach Financial Close get to Commercial Operation Date.
- Support Project Development Business Unit in the project development process.
- Develop innovative funding structures and techniques to enhance the companies’ competitiveness and ability to raise capital.
- Ensure that detailed financial models are maintained for each transaction from the start of the development process through the successful closing of projects.
- Manage the interactions with internal and external project stakeholders to provide guidance throughout the project life cycle particularly leading on strategic relationships with lenders and equity partners.
- Take ownership of and provide guidance and support in the preparation of all information required for Investment Committees.
- Advise project stakeholders and management on commercial agreements, risk allocation, bankability of contracts, and financing alternatives.
- Lead in the structuring, negotiating, and execution of transactions.
- Take ownership of and provide strategic support and guidance in the process for a financial partner/lender selection, including preparing teasers, PIMs, and engaging with prospective counterparties to clarify project valuation, risk allocation, assumptions, and market perspectives.
- Lead engagements with external stakeholders to develop new pipeline for the business and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Provide input into the strategic direction of the business unit.
- Actively identify and assist in managing project and company risks.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Finance degree or any other related
- 8 - 10 years’ experience in Project Finance; Renewable energy experience preferable
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Strong reporting analytics skills
- Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
