Job Purpose
- The Environmental Officer is responsible for ensuring that Councilâowned parks, open spaces, recreational facilities, cemeteries, woodlands, and car parks are maintained to a high standard and remain safe, accessible, and welcoming for public use. The role supports the councilâs commitment to delivering highâquality local services by undertaking routine inspections, responding to emergencies, carrying out horticultural tasks, and reducing antiâsocial behaviour across Council-owned land
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Manage the dayâtoâday operation of Councilâowned parks, open spaces, car parks, woodlands, cemeteries, and recreational facilities.
- Open and close facilities as required and undertake general horticultural duties and minor repair
- Conduct routine Safety Culture inspections, programmed inspections, and equipment audits.
- Identify defects and take action in line with departmental procedures.
- Assist in preparing budget bids for maintenance and facility development projects
Essential Experience Required
- Experience operating and maintaining open spaces, parks, and associated public facilities.
- Experience conducting programmed inspections and equipment audits.
- Experience working with community groups in a publicâfacing or environmental services setting..
Essential Qualifications Required
- Ability to work independently with a proactive approach.
- Full UK driving licence (required due to siteâbased, mobile nature of the role).
- Knowledge and practical experience in horticultural activities.
Additional information to note
- Working hours: Part-Time, Temporary. 2 days per week.
- Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to work on-site only.
- We work on Bi weekly payment schedule
