Job Description
Select Chemistry’s Environmental Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring full compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations across the company’s chemical manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on role that requires regular presence at manufacturing sites to oversee environmental programs, maintain regulatory compliance, and support operational teams in meeting environmental performance standards.
The position will lead environmental compliance initiatives related to air emissions, water discharge, waste management, chemical storage, and environmental permitting. The Environmental Compliance Manager will work closely with plant management, engineering, and safety teams to ensure environmental policies are implemented effectively while supporting safe and efficient plant operations.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
Environmental Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations including EPA, TCEQ, and local regulatory requirements.
Manage and maintain environmental permits including air permits, wastewater permits, stormwater permits, and waste handling permits.
Prepare and submit required environmental reports and regulatory filings.
Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
Site Environmental Program Management
Conduct routine environmental inspections and audits at the Midland and Tyler manufacturing sites.
Develop, implement, and maintain site environmental programs and procedures.
Monitor environmental performance indicators and ensure compliance with company environmental policies.
Maintain documentation and records required for regulatory compliance.
Environmental Monitoring & Reporting
Oversee air emissions monitoring and reporting programs.
Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs including proper storage, labeling, transportation, and disposal.
Monitor wastewater discharge and stormwater programs.
Maintain environmental compliance databases and reporting systems.
Operational Support
Work closely with plant operations and engineering teams to ensure environmental requirements are incorporated into manufacturing processes and capital projects.
Provide environmental guidance during plant modifications, expansions, and new project development.
Support incident investigations and corrective actions related to environmental events.
Training & Awareness
Provide environmental compliance training to plant personnel.
Promote environmental awareness and best practices across both sites.
Ensure employees understand environmental procedures and regulatory responsibilities.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and reduce environmental risk.
Implement best practices for environmental compliance within chemical manufacturing operations.
Support sustainability and waste reduction initiatives when applicable.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of environmental compliance experience in chemical manufacturing, oilfield chemicals, petrochemical, or industrial manufacturing environments.
Strong knowledge of EPA and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations.
Experience managing environmental permits and regulatory reporting.
Strong understanding of air, water, and waste compliance programs.
Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and managing inspections.
Ability to work independently in a hands-on, field-focused role.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to travel regularly between Midland and Tyler manufacturing sites.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications such as CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) or Environmental Professional (EP).
Experience supporting CAPEX projects and plant expansions from an environmental compliance standpoint.
Experience with environmental management systems and compliance software.

The Company will supply adequate training and equipment to perform the functions of the job.
Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm.
