Pay Rate: Range starts at $18.62/hour
Summary:
Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to provide proper execution of the inventory control guidelines of the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium’s retail operation. This position reports directly to the Manager of Retail Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Receive, unload, inspect, document issues, and sort merchandise purchase orders.
- Verification of purchase order accuracy against the packing list.
- Follow up with vendor documentation of damages/shortages to obtain credit and/or return to vendor claims.
- Maintain receiving paperwork (receiving docket, packing list, purchase orders).
- Immediately process/reconciles invoices, upon receipt, ensuring the PO and invoice match.
- Ensure that all damages and transfers are properly executed and entered daily to maintain data integrity.
- Ability to prepare routine reports as directed.
- Collaborate with Manager of Retail Operations on outstanding POs to develop a priority processing plan.
- Ability to assist in routine maintenance of warehouse equipment and shipping area.
- Ability to train, motivate, follow up and positively communicate standards to drive performance metrics to warehouse teams.
- Assist in the preparation of evaluations with documented feedback.
- Prepare and lead inventory process for the warehouse.
- Follow and ensure that all associates are following the Zoo safety procedures.
- Maintain a high level of customer service by ensuring that service standards are met and that concerns from guests are quickly resolved.
- Work in the shops as directed by Retail Manager.
- Handle routine and non-routine functions without close supervision.
- Ensure that the warehouse area is clean and fixtures are safely organized.
- Work with the Manager of Retail Operations and Retail Supervisors to ensure department manpower needs are met through proper scheduling of the warehouse staff.
- Work with Retail and Assistant Manager to ensure that hiring and training part time and seasonal staff is accomplished.
- Participate in seasonal recruitment by interviewing and selecting retail staff.
- Ensure cash control policies of the Zoo are adhered to by assisting in training staff appropriately.
- Enforce operating policies and procedures related to the merchandise of operations.
- Ensure all staff are in approved Zoo uniforms with shirt tucked in and wearing name badge.
- Ensure that work schedules and employee assignments are adequate to meet operating requirements.
Qualifications:
- Two years related experience or equivalent.
- Must hold a valid state driver’s license.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office programs.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as required.
- Ability to work well with others, including employees at all levels within the organization.
- Ability to learn and operate the Zoo’s point of sale system.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
- Proficiency in supervising, leading, and motivating staff.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis.
- Ability to operate a dolly, pallet jack, and dock plate.
- Outside work is possible and can occur during all seasons.
