Maintenance Crew at Sydney Zoo
Located in the heart of Western Sydney, Sydney Zoo strives to showcase a broad range of native and exotic animals using technology and advanced exhibit design, with a strong focus on animal welfare, conservation, and educating our visitors about animals and their habitats. Environmental and social awareness play a vital role in our message that highlights the indigenous culture and human influence on the environment.
The Position
The Maintenance Crew Member is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and monitoring of all facilities, gardens and exhibits at Sydney Zoo.
Sydney Zoo is open every day of the year and this position will require the successful candidate to work some weekends and public holidays.
Skills, Knowledge, and Relevant Experience
ESSENTIAL
- Passion for working outdoors in a physical role with a willingness to learn new skills.
- Basic gardening fundamentals including but not limited to push mowing, brush cutting, weeding etc)
- Able to meet the physical demands of the role including lifting and manipulating heavy objects and working outdoors in hot or inclement weather conditions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work independently and positively contribute to a team environment.
- Knowledge of and commitment to Workplace Health and Safety.
- An ability to excel in a busy environment.
- Ability to read and follow multiple step instructions (verbal or written)
- General understanding of sustainability and animal welfare.
DESIRABLE
- Construction Induction Card (White card)
- Working at Heights certificate
- Plant equipment experience
- EWP Ticket or Yellow Card
