This is a high-impact sales and retention role focused on saving deals, rebuilding customer confidence, and closing homeowners back into their solar projects. The Retention Specialist engages with at-risk customers, overcomes objections, and ensures projects move forward to completion.
Core Responsibilities
Deal Recovery and Closing
- Engage with homeowners considering cancellation or expressing concerns
- Rebuild trust and confidence in the project and company
- Re-close deals and secure commitment to proceed
Objection Handling and Problem Solving
- Address concerns related to roofing, electrical upgrades, pricing, financing, and timelines
- Provide clear solutions and alternatives
- De-escalate challenging conversations professionally
Contract Recovery and Re-Signing
- Present updated proposals and revised agreements
- Clearly explain changes and expectations
- Secure re-signatures to maintain project momentum
Value-Based Selling
- Position solar as a long-term financial investment
- Communicate savings, rate protection, and added home value
- Create urgency and confidence to move forward
Upsell and Revenue Growth
- Identify opportunities to include roofing or battery solutions
- Maximize revenue while solving customer needs
Internal Coordination
- Collaborate with operations, project managers, and sales teams
- Ensure timely communication and resolution of issues
Success Metrics
- High save rate on at-risk deals
- Strong contract recovery and close rate
- Effective handling of complex customer situations
- Increased revenue through upsells and add-ons
- Positive customer outcomes despite initial challenges
Ideal Candidate
- Proven sales and closing experience
- Strong objection handling and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage high-pressure and difficult conversations
- Solution-oriented and accountable
- Experience in solar, home improvement, or high-ticket sales preferred
Positioning
This role is not customer service. It is a closing role focused on turning at-risk deals into completed projects and driving revenue at the most critical stage of the sales cycle.
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Customer service experience required
- Sales experience preferred
- Solar experience preferred
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced, open floor office environment with significant computer and phone usage. Utilization of complex systems. Speed and accuracy are essential to the successful completion of tasks.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Regular requirement to talk, or hear; frequent requirement to stand, walk, reach, bend, or lift up to 20 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. May encounter interruptions throughout the work day.
