Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the Safety, Health, Environment, and Community (SHEC) management systems to ensure compliance with statutory and non-statutory obligations.
- Lead and conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and implement risk mitigation measures effectively.
- Develop and execute site-specific SHE programs and procedures to promote team well-being and ensure safety standards.
- Foster positive relationships with community leaders and stakeholders to improve rehabilitation efforts, update on progress, and address community concerns.
- Oversee environmental monitoring and compliance, ensuring adherence to relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Lead and mentor a team, driving performance and ensuring the successful completion of mine closure and rehabilitation projects.
- Manage the SHEC document control system and ensure all compliance audits and reports are accurately conducted and submitted.
- Develop and allocate resources efficiently to achieve project goals while maintaining cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical support and guidance for rehabilitation projects, ensuring alignment with best practices and corporate standards.
- Prepare and communicate regular progress reports, achievements, and challenges related to safety, environmental, and community aspects for senior management and stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
- Certificate in First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Recommended/Desirable)
- 3-5 years of proven experience in safety, environmental management, and community engagement within the mining industry, focusing on mine rehabilitation or closure projects
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, environmental laws, and community relations principles
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and driving performance
- Familiarity with budgeting, resource allocation, and project management principles
- Commitment to ethical conduct, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility
- Proficiency in MS Office and discipline-specific programs (Essential/Minimum)
