This position is in Region 6, Office of Regional Counsel. About Region 6 This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.
Major Duties
You will: Manage, coordinate, develop, and direct activities of senior level and professional staff in region's enforcement activities under federal environmental statutes and regulations. Research legal questions relating to statutes, regulations, caselaw, policy, and guidance for enforcement in administrative or judicial actions. Provide legal advice and policy recommendations on enforcement to advise management and staff on significant legal theories and strategies. Draft or assist in preparation of major legal correspondence, briefing packages, notices, information requests, and other enforcement documents for sufficiency with agency positions, policy and guidance. Represent the region in dealings with outside parties including negotiation of enforcement matters or dispute resolution of legal agreements and advise senior managers on such matters. You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.
