Summary
This position is located in Christiansted National Historic Site, in the Resource Management Division. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 04/27/2026 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.
Major Duties
As a Biological Science Technician (Wildlife), you will perform the following duties: Assists with natural resource monitoring efforts. Collects morphologic data on nesting sea turtles, migratory birds, Nassau groupers, and other threatened and endangered (T&E) species. Conducts long-term monitoring of sea turtle populations including nest surveys, hatchling success assessments, tagging, and data analysis to support conservation and management objectives. Coordinates logistics and fosters collaborative relationships with scientists from academic institutions, territorial and federal agencies, and other partners conducting resource status assessments, research studies to improve management, and invasive species control. Provides updated sea turtle status information to the broader sea turtle research community. Communicates with local and regional staff, territorial managers, and researchers regarding T&E species status, wildlife management efforts, and current research results. Maintains vessels, vehicles, sea turtle program equipment, and other scientific supplies used for wildlife monitoring activities. Performs data entry, research, and report writing in an office setting. Additional work will occur outdoors, including on boats and in-water using snorkel gear.
