These positions are located in Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, in the Visitor Services Management Division.
Major Duties
As a Park Guide, you will perform the following duties: Answers questions on a variety of subjects (e.g., observation of park features, nature, etc.). Provides services to visitors. Presents limited and repetitive pre-established talks including introductions to films, map talks, and static exhibit interpretation. Orients hikers to conditions and equipment needs. Performs programs that require application of broad subject-matter knowledge of the park. Guides both small and large groups (up to 50 people) on longer walks or programs. Provides a wide range of services to visitors, including assistance with lost articles, car trouble, and first aid; and provides information about weather conditions, highway routes, park and concessioner facilities, and prices. Issues camping and/or wilderness cabin permits. Performs crowd control at entrances and visitor center.
