Environmental Engineer

Great Plains Mfg is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our Environment and Sustainability Team, based in Salina, KS. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and our Environment and Sustainability team to support our 8 production teams and 3 Research and Development facilities in Central Kansas.
Enjoy this on-site role in Salina, KS working 4 days with a 10-hour shift and limited travel.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and advice to manufacturing plants to achieve regulatory compliance, interpretation of air and water conservation and regulations.
- Support new capital projects with air permitting assistance, determining regulatory requirements, and guidance on selection of air pollution control technology.
- Prepare reports, documentation and presentations on environmental performance, emissions calculations, and sustainability measures, including annual Air Emission Inventory and TRI reports for GPM plants.
- Training provided to maintain a high level of expertise with industry trends, technologies and regulatory updates.
- Implement Sustainability initiatives and ISO 14001 EMS system in all facilities.
- Create Sustainability initiatives to reduce our Carbon Footprint, Reduction of Waste to Landfill, and Recycling/Reuse of Materials.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state environment regulations and complete accurate and timely Air and Water reports.
- Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Industrial, Environmental Engineering or Engineering Technology; prefer three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. New Graduates are welcome to apply.
- Knowledge of industrial chemistry strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders.
- Proven problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to identify and solve complex issues quickly.
- Knowledge of Federal and State of Kansas environmental laws and regulations preferred.
- ISO 14001.2015 EMS experience preferred.
