In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Group, working as a seasonal Field Health, Safety & Environment Advisor reporting to the VP, Operations. The Field HSE Advisor will be responsible for supporting the maturity of our overall HSE management system while embracing continuous improvement using a strategic risk-based approach. The successful candidate will help lead Dawson Group to an enhanced culture of safety among our employees and contractors. Our office is in Kamloops, BC however, the position is located on site in Princeton BC.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Prioritize Safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
- Leading with strong safety leadership through desirable behaviours, attitudes, and mindset to further develop our culture of safety
- Providing guidance and coaching to management to exhibit high levels of safety leadership and continuously improve safety performance
- Facilitating the implementation and administration of corporate HSE policies, processes and systems and monitor compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations
- Providing consultation and assist in the management of risk through formal risk assessments, job hazard analysis, and project planning
- Conduct regular HSE audits, inspections, and observations to support safe work behaviours and provide recommendations to management
- Support the performance and effectiveness of Occupational Health and Hygiene program through industrial hygiene monitoring and exposure control plans
- Lead the incident management program including the management of workplace injuries and illnesses
- Act as a liaison between the company and external stakeholders or industry regulators
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation, Certified Safety Professional, or other Professional Board Certification is preferred
- Experience in developing and managing programs that will lead certification (OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety, ISO 14001 Environmental Management, WorkSafeBC Certificate of Recognition)
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in HSE or related field
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable health, safety, and environment regulations and related standards
- In-depth knowledge of HSE best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to take initiative, to lead and motivate people
- Proficient in common business application software (i.e. Microsoft Office and Windows)
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Possess and maintain a class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract
