General Position Summary & Responsibilities:
The Retail Sales Supervisor serves as a key operational and customer-service leader, leveraging automotive product knowledge to resolve complex customer inquiries, ensure accurate parts identification, and maintain a high standard of in-store technical expertise. This role provides ongoing coaching, training, and performance support and accountability to team members to strengthen product knowledge and service capabilities across the store. In addition, the Retail Sales Supervisor oversees daily sales operations, drives execution of merchandising and operational standards, ensures compliance with company policies, and leads personnel in achieving sales targets while cultivating a customer-focused, efficient, and high-performing retail environment.
Essential Functions:
Safety and Environmental
- Demonstrate and reinforce a work environment where no task is performed in an unsafe or environmentally unsound manner, ensuring safety is the primary consideration in all operations.
- Verify that team members comply with all Company and legal safety and environmental standards at all times. Under management direction, will oversee staff training and certification in safety and environmental compliance areas.
- Ensure the assigned area maintains cleanliness and organization, promoting a safe and environmentally secure environment for both employees and customers.
- Wear assigned PPE correctly and consistently whenever it’s required.
Sales Floor Leadership and Customer Experience Management
- Maintain 85% sales floor presence to actively engage customers, model selling behaviors, and drive sales results.
- Lead customer service initiatives and directly participate in customer care functions to ensure exceptional shopping experiences.
- Execute company sales strategies, marketing programs, and merchandising initiatives to achieve store performance goals.
- Prepare and analyze sales reports and key performance indicators to track progress and identify improvement opportunities.
Team Management & Development
- Recruit, hire, train, and schedule sales personnel to build a high-performing team.
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance; provide ongoing coaching, training, and development to strengthen selling effectiveness.
- Conduct weekly team meetings to communicate updates, maintain enthusiasm, reinforce positive culture, and review performance metrics.
- Lead by example and effectively communicate and implement company policies and procedures.
Operations & Compliance
- Validate customer receipts, perform cash verification, and complete accurate register countdowns to ensure compliance with Company cash-handling procedures and support the safeguarding of all financial assets.
- Support store operations by completing housekeeping, janitorial, and other assigned duties. This may include cleaning tires, carrying batteries, mopping floors, and similar tasks.
- Collaborate with corporate support resources to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide strategic oversight of daily store operations by identifying obstacles to performance, implementing solutions, and partnering with leadership to ensure staffing, workflow, and operational plans consistently support store-level goals.
- Establish and communicate clear performance expectations for each shift, ensuring effective delegation, balanced workload distribution, and seamless execution of operational plans. Monitor progress throughout the day and proactively address variances to maintain alignment with business objectives.
- Lead resolution of employee matters and customer issues by applying sound judgment, enforcing company policies, and ensuring timely escalation of concerns to upper management when necessary.
- Oversee the preparation, accuracy, and timely submission of sales, production, and performance reports, providing insights and recommendations that support data-informed decision-making.
- Ensure strict compliance with all legal, regulatory, and company standards, safeguarding company assets and promoting a culture of accountability, safety, and ethical conduct.
Job Conditions
The Retail Sales Supervisor works in both indoor and outdoor environments within an auto salvage yard setting, with exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, automotive fluids, and noise from machinery and customer activity. A variable schedule including weekends, holidays, and peak sale days is required, along with adherence to safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Qualifications
- Experience managing customers directly and supervising employees.
- Experience handling customer payments across multiple payment methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and email applications
- Ability to work a flexible retail schedule—including weekends, holidays, occasional overtime—and to support nearby store locations as assigned by leadership.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly and professionally in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
- Familiarity with automotive parts, including recognizing common components and understanding basic product information.
Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions:
This position requires regular standing, walking, bending, stretching, and lifting up to 40 pounds to perform customer care, product relocation, and facility maintenance functions. Manual dexterity is essential for handling tools, performing housekeeping duties such as mopping and sweeping, and completing assigned Task List responsibilities. Sufficient vision and the ability to remain on your feet for the entire work shift are necessary to perform all job functions safely and effectively.
