We are seeking a Financial Modelling and Analysis Specialist to support the company’s growth through focusing on delivering complex financial models and analysis in support of our commercial work. The individual will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date project models for all of the assets in the Energy Operations portfolio. The individual will be responsible for reporting on the actual return vs forecast return and providing forecast updates on expected dividend flows based on operational updates from the projects.
Operational Financial Modelling – Energy Operations and Asset Management
- Model handover, at Financial Close the specialist will take over responsibility for the model and maintaining and updating the operational model throughout the life of the projects.
- Assist with asset optimization, financial modelling and related transaction support – sales, acquisitions, refinance, restructure etc.
- Assist with scenario planning.
- Monitor and manage financial reporting metrics and reporting requirements for stakeholders, and perform all work required to issue compliance certificates.
- Provide model outputs for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
- Provide outputs and support plant and sub-hold co updates to Group Financial Model.
- Create models and perform analysis to support stakeholder management (board, lenders, regulators etc.)
- Monitor report on actual results versus Financial Close models and budgets.
- Maintain the house view on macro-economic assumptions by gathering data from partner financial institutions and monitoring changes to macro trends.
- Maintain a data-book of reference pricing, costs performance ratio’s etc. and analyse trends over time.
- Be the modelling champion of excellence, staying up to date with the latest developments, tools and analysis and sharing with other financial modellers/model users in the business.
- Develop integrations from financial models into financial reporting / ERP system
Financial Modelling Support for other business units.
- Provide a second review on models produced by other parts of the business ProDev, IFG and Finance report on reasonability of assumptions, sensitivity analysis on key assumptions and model integrity to ensure that there is a consistent and thoughtful financial analysis process across all relevant markets.
- Assist with ad-hoc modelling requests to support activities in the rest of the group, principally Business Development and Finance
- Interface with various teams to answer any questions that they may have on financial models or general questions related to the organisations’ transactions.
- Analyse the trends of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), especially relating to financial metrics such as funding requirements, returns, expenditures and free cash flows.
- Keep updated on changes in the relevant sectors and changes throughout the business.
People Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with team, finance peers, business development teams, and business leaders.
- Oversee effective utilization of systems and tools to ensure that knowledge is managed efficiently for continuous improvement.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Execute in adherence to all relevant regulatory and business practices.
- Active risk management by applying and promoting a culture of ongoing detection and resolution of Statutory, Regulatory compliance breaches.
- Drive the resolution management of the identified top risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field.
- CA(SA) or MBA or other professional qualification advantageous
- 5 years’ experience in Finance
- Minimum of 2 years related experience in authoring and working with complex financial models
- Experience in the energy sectors is preferable with project finance experience mandatory.
- Exceptional Excel & VBA skills
- Excellent verbal, written, technical, and computer communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software with strong Excel skills.
