We are looking for world-class talent to tackle challenging projects that will help power the planet with 100% clean energy.

First, the good news: Humans have installed a little over 1 TW of cumulative solar capacity over the last 20 years - solar is now the cheapest source of energy generation around the globe.

Now, the challenge: Humans have to build 3 TW of solar capacity every year for the next 30+ years. Planted is creating new technology to overhaul how we design, develop, and build solar power resources to make this happen.

And, we need help. We're expanding our team of curious, collaborative, and hands-on engineers and operators. Come own large parts of product, company, or business development and help make our big plans a reality!

About The Role

As the Development Manager, you will work closely with our customers to convert a pipeline of prospective projects into permitted sites ready to generate carbon-free energy. You will own critical pieces of our project development process and apply your knowledge of solar plant development from site origination, interconnection, zoning, preliminary site design, and RFPs to support our customers. Successful candidates will possess solar market expertise, strong leadership and communication skills, energy and infrastructure financial acumen, and a desire to be a part of a growing, early-stage company. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a talented and cross-functional engineering and business team with a high degree of empowerment and autonomy.

We prefer candidates located in the Bay Area, but we will consider candidates elsewhere (regular travel to Oakland and elsewhere will be required.)

The salary range for this full-time position is $80,000 - $120,000 plus stock options and benefits. Pay within the range is based on candidate experience, job-specific skills, education, and work location. The target experience for the position is 2 - 6 years.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage project development engagements to deliver sites to permitting or NTP and nurture partnerships with existing customers
  • Own site analysis and financial modeling necessary to evaluate risks and opportunities at potential solar power plant projects
  • Support internal and external resources to help negotiate LOIs and master framework contracts
  • Support the creation and improvement of development and project management tools, processes, and standard operating procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years experience in distributed generation or utility-scale solar power development
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship management skills
  • Financial modeling expertise using Microsoft Excel or other modeling programs
  • Hands-on ownership mentality, curiosity, and resourcefulness
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, reduce reasonable risks, and make good decisions with imperfect knowledge
  • Nice to have: Experience with solar industry software (e.g., PVsyst, Anderson Optimization)

*A note on qualifications: Many people are unlikely to apply for jobs unless they believe they can perform every task in the job description. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job and will consider equivalent combinations of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role.
